Woke up at 5:15 AM to prepare for our 5:50 AM taxi ride to Newark International Airport. Our 8:00 AM flight would take us across the continent to the booming Canadian city of Calgary, Alberta. We passed through the security checkpoints at Newark International without incident and relaxed for an hour at the airport while waiting for our flight. It was an exhausting trip because we would like to go as many places as we could when we were in British Columbia. It took us a lot of time to refine our trip plan over and over again to make the best use of our time. We traveled more than 3000 miles. I decided to fly to Seattle (instead of Vancouver or Victoria) and rent a car that day. By doing this, we can save some money on airplane tickets, car rental (booked a full size car from Hertz on Hotwire.com; I believe we got a great deal) and a possible tourist tax. We packed up our car and were on the road again by 6:40. At 10:37, we crossed the Mississippi River and entered Minnesota. At noon, we stopped at McDonald’s for lunch.
