We traveled for 9 hours to reach our final destination of Mackinac City. The trip took longer than I anticipated. It was pretty uneventful. We arrived around 9:00 PM and decided to head over the Kewadin Casino across the bridge in St. Ignace. We weren't impressed. We stayed at the Baymont Inn and Suites. They were under renovations while we were there but it was comfortable. It was a couple of blocks from the ferry lines and right next to Mackinac Crossing which is a shopping complex. We headed out this morning for Mackinaw Island. We took the Starline ferry across. We had a great view of the ...

After 11 hours of driving, we got to the city around 8:30 PM Saturday 10/9. Traffic was horrible. We decided to drive to a suburb north called Shaumburg. We visited the Woodfield mall Sunday AM. We were surprised to see all the tornado shelters throughout the mall. Heading into Chicago wasn't as hectic as we thought it...

The trip was a ton of fun, definitely tiring from all of the driving! Monday We left for Mackinac City around noon, and got there within 3.5 hours. That evening, we spent some time at the Water park and and in the jacuzzi at the hotel. The hotel was quite nice. For 10 dollars more per night, we were able to get a lakeview room, beautiful!! The only downside, in my opinion, was the "beach" front property of the hotel. The shore was actually a clay bottom, and as a Lake Michigan native, it wasn't up to par. That evening, we drove across the bridge and had dinner at Bentely's B N L Cafe in downto...
