Today I set out from my hometown of New York to go visit my sister in Ann Arbor, Michigan for her birthday. Though I love seeing my sister, I absolutely hate driving out to visit her. It's pretty much just sitting in a car for nine hours, spending a day in town, then hopping back in my car and coming home. Doesn't that sound like fun to you? So this year, since I'll be sitting in a car anyways, I've decided to change things up and get the most out of visiting my sister by taking as long as I possibly can to go visit her. I just parked at a parking gargage which was costly ($2 though Sunday was free) but they did give me rare dollar coins for change which was neat. TOTAL COST: $4 Ann Arbor sure has a lot of movie theatres. I do not know if it is because they have gone to all those Rose Bowls and have hung around Hollywood/UCLA/etc., but for a school in the Midwest, Michigan sure seems to have an active film department. It was a trek through Michigan, using very little of the Interstate. Went through St. Joe, Benton Harbor, Coloma, Watervliet, Hartford, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Waterloo Recreation Area before arriving in Ann Arbor for the night. One of the main things for my father and I to do that day was to see Cereal City USA in Battle Creek. Battle Creek was a nice city with a creek and nice buildings and restaurants, but Cereal City was closed, for good.
