We left home at around 2PM, trying to get an early start toward Eureka Springs and the rest of the trip. After fighting though the Hwy 301 traffic in southern Maryland, Frederickburg rush hour, and the overall Northern Virginia end-of-the-workday brouhaha, we finally popped out on the other side of Charlottesville and followed I-81 to Roanoke. We took the scenic byways around Charlottesville, and saw some truly beautiful horse farms. We attended a wedding at the Historic Crescent Hotel. Very beautiful place. Supposed to be haunted per several documentaries which have been recorded there. On Saturday, we headed up from Little Rock and went the pig trail (AR -65) up North. We stopped at Devil's Den State Park. We do a lot of hiking and caving in AR, so we can safely say that the cave at Devil's Den wasn't worth it. There was no water in the waterfall (very sad, I love waterfalls, but what did I expect in August?), so we felt as if it was a waste of time. The cave was nasty and smelled horrible.
