This was a family vacation taken by me, my husband Jon, and our three children: Charles 9, Brooklyn 3, and Alyssa 1. We had high hopes of making it to Arizona in 24 hours and to do so are driving straight through the night. We left this vacation at 12:00 pm and headed out for the long adventure. St Louis was awesome! Except the traffic :-( We went to see the Arch first thing. You had to get in these tiny little 4 foot high doors to ride in the tram vehicle that was barely big enough for 5 people. After the going to the top, we rode on a sight- seeing cruise. The boats' name was the Tom Sawyer. The views were incredible from the boat. We also had lunch while crusing. After the boat ride, we went to the Anheuser Busch factory for a free tour. It was a really long drive. We got a late start Thursday and drove through storms so we didn't get as far as we planned. I couldn't drive any farther so we pulled off in Stuart, Iowa. All the hotels were full. I couldn't drive any more so we spent the night in the car in the McDonald's parking lot. I woke up at 6 and we headed out. The drive through Nebraska was so boring we thought it would never end, but it was a beautiful drive up the mountain through Roosevelt National Forest to Estes Park, Colorado, where our campground is.
