Very dirty and rude staff. Horrible experience.
By ,
The hotel exterior was okay (not too much trash on the streets), but the room was disgusting. There were urine stains on the toilet, the carpet felt damp. The worst was the bed sheets, which had a few rips and smelled horrible. When I asked the hotel staff if the room had been clean, they rudely said "Yes, don't worry." I told them about the urine stains and they said "It was cleaned, those don't come off." My wife could not even handle to sit in the room, the coach had some hard black things stuck to it, like very old dried out gum. I went to the lobby and asked for a new room and they said "No, no rooms available." I ended up having to find a new hotel. When I asked for a refund they said "No, pay for entire stay, no refund." This was a horrible experience and I would recommend that people not book here under any situation.

Enjoyed my stay
By ,
It is unfair to rate this hotel as a stand alone because in comparison, Naples has several hotels but most are in unsafe, unsavory locations which is why this one stood out to me. I did have the opportunity to stay at other hotels in the area so out of the lot I enjoyed my time at the Hotel Royal the best. The Royal Continental is, by far, in one of the better areas of town. Situated directly across from a castle that fronts the Bay of Naples, the view from the rooms is beautiful and when you take a dip in the salt-water pool on the roof, the view is even better. The hotel is in walking distance to the city center, which means shops and restaurants (and there are restaurants inside the castle as well although they are pricier than those further away from the water). The strip directly under the hotel has several bars popular with the locals that did make it a bit noisy at times but it actually made me more jealous than anything else because I had a business meeting in the morning so I couldn't play too. I did encounter enough English speakers throughout the hotel and in town to make my stay easy enough.

never again
By ,
If you need someone that speaks several languages well at the Royal Continental go to the bar tenders or the pool attendant as the front desk only speaks Italian and Napolitan. Also I had a hard time maintaining balance while taking a shower due to the smooth constant curve of the bath tub (no flat area to stand on). We stayed 2 1/2 weeks; the wifi worked on 2 occaisions. The location is perfect if your into carnival type crowds.
