Do NOT stay here
By ,
This place is a dump. It is in dire need of remodeling. The furniture was old and worn, the beds were hard, the lighting was bad, etc. My bad experience began from check-in because the man behind the desk was incredibly rude, and then he placed me in a room the size of a shoebox. The room was literally a janitor's closet. I requested a move from another person behind the desk and was moved to a better room which was a superior double. There was more space but the decor and furniture was still very old and in need of an upgrade. The walls in the hotel are paper thin as well. I could hear the people next to me talking and above me using the restroom. The staff here are not friendly and their concierge is particularly nasty. Do not approach him with questions. The restaurant in this hotel is particularly gross as well. Eat elsewhere. The only positive things about this place are the great location and breakfast. Would never recommend and will not be returning.

Our Honeymoon
By ,
We thought the hotel was great! The people were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, who spends time in the room anyway...The furthest attraction is only 2 miles away, although I wouldn't recommend walking unless you are used to a lot of exercise. The double decker bus tour was great, other than the fact that tehy seemed to be a little off the time schedule. The terrace bar/restraunt was very nice although a bit over priced. We have already started planning our next trip to Rome and will definitly stay at this hotel again!

Great hotel
This was my first trip to Rome and I couldn't have chosen a better location. The hotel is a block to Termini, lots of cabs on Via Cavore, and a subway entrance is a block north. The hotel staff was very friendly, someone on staff always new English and they were super helpful. Our room and bathroom were larger than I expected for Europe. The bathroom was recently remodeled and very nice. The rooms look a little outdated, but are clean and have everything you need. The free breakfast in the mornings is great, since nowhere else are you going to find more for b'fast than coffee and pastry. I would skip the rooftop restaurant except for the view. The food is overpriced and not very good, so your typical hotel restaurant. I would go here again and would recommend to anyone going to Rome. Within walking distance are a few good restaurants, an all night pizza-kebab across the street, bars are close, pharmacy across the street...what more do you need :)

location, location, location

I have been to italy 5 times is the past 7 years with different people each time. We have always visited Rome for about 3 days. The Mediterraneo is right across the street from the train terminal. Easy to walk even with your luggage, and I'm old. After staying in the Mediterraneo the first trip, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Location was PERFECT we always bought a "rail pass" and the train station was right there. Right outside the hotel door on the corner to your right is one of the best little restaurants in Rome. Great food and "very" friendly staff. The staff in the hotel is wonderfull too and speak perfect English. The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and the breakfast is spectacular. I like the fact that the train station and the double decker tour bus is across the street. I think that bus is the best way to get your first, and an overall view of Rome. That is the best bargain in town. I have family in Treviso so that is my home base, but I wouldn't miss the part of the trip that is Rome and a very big part of that is the Mediterraneo Hotel and it's warm hospitality and courteous and friendly staff. Can't wait to return. Dee Orange County, California

Great Hotel!
By ,
This hotel is located one block from Rome's central bus and train station (Termini). Breakfast is excellent with a great variety of food. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are not that small and you get amenities every day. I will definitely return to Rome and stay on this hotel.

Excellent Locate/Bad beds
By ,
Nice hotel but the beds were hard as boards. If your room faced the street, noise is an issue. Courteous staff, nice breakfast, great coffee, but the beds were just too hard.

Mediterraneo is fantastico!
By ,
Centrally located in Rome, a block from the subway and a block and a half from the Termini Train Station, the Mediterraneo cannot be beaten for a great location. The concierge staff and the people on the desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Being an older European hotel, the rooms were on the small side but that adds to the charm; our double was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast in a beautiful room was excellent; table service for coffee, the rest of the cold (meat, cheese, lots of fruit) and hot dishes (including bacon, eggs, cereal) were self service. Don't miss the 10th floor rooftop garden bar at night. The view, including St. Peter's is wonderful, and it's a great place for an expresso, gelato or cocktail to end your evening. Hotel highly recommended; I would stay here again.
