horrible customer service

I cancelled my reservation online to the Macdonald Roxburghe Hotel and also called on 12/6 from Belgium when we found that our flight to Edinburgh was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions and the airports (country) were shut down. The next flight was due to leave Belgium on 12/8 if we were lucky (arriving at 10:30 pm). We were concerned that even if we made it to Scotland that we would not be able to return to the states. For the next two weeks I was attempting to obtain some consideration due to the extreme circumstances, I couldn’t get to the country…what am I going to do?
I can understand having to pay for a night, but I had to give up my entire 3 night’s worth of money because I couldn’t get there. They continued to state that they could not refund due to policies and procedures. I had other plans for those 3 days while in Edinburgh and was able to be reimbursed because they understood the situation we were in.
For an establishment that boasts to be the best in Edinburgh and customer oriented, it sure didn’t feel like it. I was very frustrated with the entire process and customer service. I have absolutely no plans to stay there when I actually make it to Scotland.
