Just ok
I go the the UK about every 3 months for business trips. I normally stay at a bed and breakfast to save money but this time it was full so I stayed at the Holiday Inn - High Wycombe.
Check in - I checked in around 6:00pm. It was fairly quick and painless. Luckily there was someone else I work with and he volunteered to carry my suitcase up the stairs for me as they did not have an elevator and a bellhop was not offered.
Room – I stayed in an executive room. While small and cramped compared to most US hotel, it was very efficient for lack of a better way to describe it. The bathroom was well lit and had all the necessities. Shower over tub with decent water pressure. I liked the Neutrogena products. Bed was full sized and a bit on the firm size but still comfortable. Good assortment of pillows. Barely 18" of space around the bed. There was a small TV with 6 channels. A desk and chair. By the door there was a closet like area, but w/out doors. Also a mini bar and one of those contraptions that press your pants...I called down and they sent up an ironing board and iron.
Decoration - was simple but well coordinated. I really liked the sliding wood panels that served room darkening shades.
Restaurant - Free breakfast buffet was OK. They have nothing on the Bed and Breakfast I usually stay at. Eggs were either rubbery or dried out each morning. They did have a good assortment of fruit and cheese though. Coffee was also good and strong. I ordered room service one night instead of venturing into town for food and it was nothing spectacular. If you want really good food, take a cab into Marlow. There are many very good restaurants there.
Staff - Service was ok. They do not go out of their way to be friendly or helpful, but they are efficient.
The room rate was 115 UK Pounds a night which is roughly $200 US.
