Great experience at the Grosvenor

Visited early April 2008. Newly renovated Grosvenor House is beautiful and well-situated. On-site services were superior. Staff was (mostly) courteous and helpful. Lack of wireless Internet access was disappointing, but typical of higher-end hotels. Room service food and speed of service was especially good and well worth noting. Proximity to Hyde Park/Mayfair makes the Grosvenor an ideal place for walking to attractions. Soho & Picadilly also nearby. Underground stations within a short walk, too. Taxis were plentiful, great restaurants nearby or on site.

I'd rather sleep in the street.

The first room that I checked into had probably not been remodeled since 1960. Carpet was worn out and torn, the tile was coming off of the bathroom floor and walls, the matress had a dip in the middle of aproximately six inches, the bath tub had a six inch brown stain where the water had been dripping (and still was). One day after the daily maid service was done I came back to the room and noticed the most ransid odor throughout the room. I later found out that the maid rarely bathed and left this odor whereever she went. That stay of one week found me in four rooms trying to get something suitable. I am not that pickey.

Good business trip

I liked the hotel location, charm, and the bar was very cool to hang at after work. I spent about 5 weeks at this hotel, for work. I was a bit frustrated at the sky high prices for coffee in the morning, it forced me out of the hotel rather than enjoy the lounge. (I mean REALY outrageous, like 8 dollars, not unlike many hotels. Could not justify as a business expense!) But I appreciated being away from crowds, and close to the park. The rooms were small, but not unusually so for europe.

Small but comfortable

Although the rooms were on the small side, if you are smack dab in the middle of Mayfair you probably aren't going to spend much time in the hotel. Very convenient to shopping (Selfridge's is up the street) and the Tube. Hyde Park a few blocks away. Go downstairs to Selfridge's cafeteria for great eats at very nominal prices. The teas and scones are especially good. We loved hoisting a few at the Barley Mow next door. Front desk service is very professional and helpful. The dining room is wonderful, especially the desserts.

Amazing spacious rooms, elegantly furnished, great service (so as most of the hotels in London), huge lobby area devided into salons. Hard to find a taxi late at night though!

Three week stay in October 2001

Grosvenor House provides quite simply the best experience for the business traveller in London. The Le Royal Club located on the 7th Floor catered to my busy schedule, providing both superb and convenient meeting, business, concierge and lounge services just outside my door. The availability of computer jacks in the room, the incredibly accomodating and friendly staff, great food available at all hours, and the hotel`s Old World charm made my trip not only successful, but very pleasant. Especially following on the heels of 9/11 during my stay, I continually received gracious support and kind reassurances from everyone at the hotel. Americans and America are truly appreciated and respected at Grosvenor House. It was an experience I`ll never forget. And the surrounding Mayfair neighborhood was charming, with magnificent restaurants, parks and shops close-by. As a business traveller, you cannot have a better experience in London than staying here. I can`t wait to get back!
