Hotel Goldener Hirsch Salzburg, Salzburg

We stayed at the Goldener for a week while on conference. Everything was 5 star..from the front desk and staff--very helpful, to the well appointed rooms our stay was a delight. Terrific restaurant..Would stay here again and again.

We drove into Salzburg in a light rain and parked inside the mountain. Happened upon this hotel and they had 2 rooms available, both of which were warm and inviting. They retreived my car, took bags to room and parked my car in closer lot. I have never felt more welcome and comfortable in any hotel.

Location "the best", staff great, room clean and inviting. Only problem was the shower "had a mind of it's own". We had no problem getting to the front door in a taxi,nor did we have a problem being picked up at the front door on our return to the train station.

It is the best hotel in all the world!!! Nice rooms and the best beds this is a must for every European Traveler. Will be back soon!

cute but not quite worth the money. Be prepared to haul your own luggage as driving to this hotel is forbidden and cabs are difficult. Still, if you like "precious" this is the place...Personally, I felt it was overfurnished and stuffy...great bathroom though.....

Good location and clean room but that's it. I've been in hotels all over Europe and the bed at the Goldener Hirsch was the hardest I have ever tried. I think the floor would have been more comfortable! When I complained, the hotel man just shrugged his shoulders and said they were all like that. Two maids tried to enter my room without knocking when I was in the room. They don't even have a "Do not disturb" sign to hang. Beware, the breakfast is not included and it costs 27 Euros. It's not worth even half of that.

The Goldener Hirsch and the Sacher are the two best hotels in Salzburg. Of the two, the Hirsch is the most conveniently located for walking Old Town. The hotel is wonderful and charming, with rooms containing Austrian antiques from the early 1800's. We have stayed at the Hirsch on many occasions and have always enjoyed the hotel. It sounds weird but, of all things, we have found the Hirsch to be internationally known for it's scrambled eggs. We have encountered travelers in several countries (including the USA) who immediately identify the Hirsch by the scrambled eggs. It's crazy. But true. We are heading there again for the eggs in Sept 2005. Great hotel.
