A big mistake
By Reinaldo, 11/1/09
Incredible expensive, for the $200 I paid a night I have stayed in better hotels for $60. Parkinglot expensive for gest, receptionist arguing between them in public, very tense all the time. I booked a room with view to the city and they gave me one looking ate the parking lot, of course I changed. But the carpet were smelly!!! like a carpet of a movie theater smell, at least 20 years old. The TV was an 20" 80's CTR with no contrast any more and only a few channels. I asked for a sandwich room service and it costed me $70!!! The good thing was breakfast, at least you have everything but you can tell the hotel administrators are not re investing the money back into the hotel. I live in Caracas and replacing the carpet of that room is equivalent to what I paid for my stay (including labor). Do not go to this hotel unless you have no place to go, and if you go do not expect even a 2 stars hotel condition or service. The rooms are nothing compared with the ones in the pictures. Restaurant is incredible expensive, at least you can go to the mall infront at a walking distance and have a better meal for a rasonable price. The hotel does not have car rental either, when I was at the check out the receptionist told to some people to go to the CCCT mall but as if they were living there, that mall is a few 10 minutes away walking and is not easy to get there at all if you do not know your way in the city. The people at the help desk has never set a foot in any other hotel outside Venezuela, they do not know how to treat people. It is a pitty, this hotel was one of the greatest in Venezuela and obviously they are relaying in their old reputation (old 40 years back). I will never go there again, I rather pay a bit more and get at least a decent room with an AC unit that does not make noises all night... because mine had some wires loosed inside or something, as old as the hotel.

Bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/09
In general, not the best option in CCS. Expensive, staff with lack of customer-care concept, lack of service culture, DIRTY rooms, ruined furniture, below the concept of a 5 star hotel. All there's left is the memories of better times. Don't even think of booking here, try Embassy or Melia instead

Overpriced Dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
I paid $199 for the room on ihg.com, and i can see why I got it for so cheap. The room is dark, dingy, and in total need of remodeling. A hamburger in the resturant costs over $35. A pack of gum in the gift shop, $8. Robery at its finest. The pool is very nice. Overall, this is the worst 5 star property i've ever stayed at, hands down.

hotel stay
By Raymon, 7/31/08
I stayed at the Tamanaco InterContinental hotel, I pay my fee on line and the hotel charge me again for the stay, Its been a month since I been asking for a refund in other words I have been charge twice and the hotel don’t want to refund my money over charged and all I get is don’t worry as an answer. It’s almost impossible to get them on the phone to help you.

Dont get close!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/08
I can not describe how aweful this hotel is specialy for the price you pay. They charge a high amount for Every Thing including potable water! the rooms are very cold and stinky. The elevator is so slow that I end up going up and down to my room at level 9 using the stairs few times!! and the staff are not friendly and not organized. The location was good for me as most of the companies I was visiting were close by.

By FAR the WORST Intercontinental Hotel
By jjiglesias, 7/1/08
Stayed 60 plus days in May-June 2008 and it's the worst 5 star hotel I have been in my whole life. No A/C, No Hot water many days, no elevators working. Amaze me how Intecontinental could retain the franchise to this really poor staffed and poor service hotel. A shame for the Intercontinental Brand

Do not even try it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/08
Very old and unclean. Most of the rooms had not been upgraded and furniture and bedding is old. The upagraded rooms are not so great either and prices are above 400 dollars a night. Overall prices are astronomical for the type of service... even I was charged over 65 dollars for a breakfast brunch. Elevators are extremely old and dangerous. I was trapped in one of them. Hard to believe it belongs to the Intercontinental chain of hotels. Very, very dissapointing.

Stay away from this pit!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/07
Would you pay $ 250 per night for a small, dingy room, with worn out furniture, dirty floor carpet and walls, not internet access in the room (only in the lobby, if you can find a chair available)? Enough said.

Average hotel - bad service
By Luis E, 10/3/06
I have to say that the hotel is ok and the food is above average but the customer service really brings it down. I have stayed here several times and it is no "coincidence". On my last trip, room service took 52 minutes - for a baked chicken! Then next morning, when I checked out, they told me it was "too early" and that my invoice was not ready (their accounting system was down) - that I should pay the total amount WITHOUT SEEING A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT I WAS BEING CHARGED!!!

Good, Very Good, excellent!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/06
I had the opportunity to visit caracas for two weeks but have no idea were to stay, after inquiring with my colleagues at work, they truly recommended this hotel and how certain they were. This hotel is magnificent, the atmosphere in just great and what a view, the staff is very helpful and the food is out of this world, very fresh and the variety of the fruits left me speachless. I will come back to this hotel for sure. Thanks for making my stay truly remarcable.
