La Fontana Estelar Hotel, Bogota

My camera was stolen from the room and I had it inside a zipped hard case inside my back pack. I never used my camera in Bogota and it was always in the room. If you want to stay here leave all your valuables at home or make sure to put everything in a safe! I was also charged an additional tax illegaly (If you are a foreign resident you don't pay certain taxes) and they lied and told me the DIAN at the airport would reimburse the tax - the DIAN told me they did not reimburse those fees! Awful experience, awful security, awful service. I do not recommend it.

I stayed at Hotel Estelar La Fontana in Bogota for a week. The hotel does not operate like a five star at all. Here are the issues I had: 1. The business center had an old printer with no ink. Nobody was able to solve this. 2. My relatives called the hotel and the receptionist said I was not staying there 3. My husband left me a message and it was never in my room voicemail service. I called the front desk and they were not able to explain what happened. 4. My bed sheets were not changed in four days until I personally requested clean sheets 5. Hotel does not have currency exchange service. Also, if you pay with US dollars they charge you more (you end up losing money because they do a conversion below the exchange rate). 7. Sliding doors (windows) do not have a lock. I stayed on a first floor room. I left my room to get breakfast and when I came back the sliding doors were wide open. The cleaning lady was not there. Nobody was able to tell me why the sliding doors were open. I did not feel safe. 6. Staff seems very young and inexperienced. If you ask for help they keep looking at the computer screen trying to look busy. Very unprofessional. I do not recommend you stay at this hotel.

I was here for a week facilitating a workshop. The service was outstanding. The property was beautiful with its courtyards, balconies, window flower boxes, fountain and landscaping. The room was spacious and well appointed. The food was excellent. And the view of the surrounding mountains from an eighth floor restaurant was very nice. The property is gated and within a two minute walk of a shopping mall. They have a fitness center and a Jacuzzi. The only thing I wish they had was a swimming pool. Overall, my experience here was excellent.

This hotel is noted in Colombia for its old world charm. It is set up with a courtyard and it is indeed very beautiful and has many areas to walk within the hotel. The food that was offered was breakfast lack as much variety as I would have liked. The buildings are separate which means that even though one is inside the hotel you will need to venture outside to go from one area to another (if you are not in the main building). The location is conveniently located within 2 blocks or so of the Unicentro Mall. I do have to say that I found the prices high even after exchanging from dollars. This restauran is better suited for families going on vacation that would benefit from the beautiful surroundings.

THE ONLY DISLIKE I HAD WAS THAT BREAKFAST WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. BUT IT WAS A FANTASTIC BREAKFAST. -THE STAFF= FANTASTIC -THE LOCATION= GREAT -THE FACILITIES= GREAT -HOTEL SAFETY= GREAT -THE ROOMS=GOOD I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE GOING TO BOGOTA, COLOMBIA. SPECIALY FOR THE 1ST TIME.

time at a cheaper hotel. It is true as another poster stated, the rooms facing the streets are and can be noisy, the beds are pretty thin, and take a bit getting used to, and the bed bugs do bite. The hotel is a beautiful hotel, overall, however it is in the need of some remodeling. I've also stayed at Park House 101, and found it to be better, and slightly cheaper. Hotel is beautiful! However, the first morning when I got up my body was covered with approximately 30 bed bug bites. The room was completely stripped. I was streetside and the traffic was never ending all night. The hotel had hung a banner on the front of the hotel and the suspension ropes banged against the window for three days and nights. One evening when I returned to the room, a handy man had been in the room (why, I do not know) and had flooded the bathroom. Breakfast and laundry were included, which I found out after staying eight days. I received an apology after every event, but that got old. I was in Bogota for medical reasons and the reservations was made for me by the US Embassy, thus I was unable to change hotels. Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful historic hotel with outstanding attention and service. My suite was very comfortable. The restaurant has top quality food and service attending to your every need. The courtyard is gorgeous as is every aspect of this hotel....highly recommend. Extremely safe, every car entering the grounds is checked everytime.

I have to say that it's the best Colombia has to offer. The hotel was different from any other I have ever stayed in. It had the "5 star" service yet at the same time a down home hospitality that is seen in the Colombian staff. The hotel had a very Colombian feel, shown through its unique architecture and decor. The complimentary breakfast was amazing, the business center was very professional and on Sundays they have an art & craft fair in the hotel's interior courtyard. On top of all that it's located near a large mall for all your shopping needs in a safe walking neiborhood in Northern Bogota.

I have visited Bogota 3 times and stayed at the La Fontana everytime....however I did try another hotel in "Zona Rosa" for 2 nights on one trip and was VERY disappointed.The staff at La Fontana will answer any need you may have. For the American tourist this hotel is in my opinion the best choice. It is located in the north part of the city so it is very safe for Americans.
