Beautiful Paradise for Families

I stayed at the Royal Palm Plaza for 9 days in July of 2005, which was the wintertime in Brazil. Brazils winter was perfect for an American, and I experienced sunny and breezy 75-degree Fahrenheit days. The rooms were a good size and had small balconies overlooking the city. The staff was very helpful and almost all of them spoke English. I was at the hotel for a large conference. It was a great location, and the staff was always willing to assist us. I think this hotel would be a great place to bring kids because there is a huge playground area that would provide enough entertainment to last a week. Also, the hotel has a recreation staff who instructed fitness and dance classes that were very popular with teens. There was also a large pool, hot tub, volleyball pool, and playground pool. The gym was wonderful, as well as the workout facilities. My personal favorite was the dry and wet sauna. My friends and I enjoyed afternoons at the pool or spa and nights at the bar. Fabio, a fluent english-speaking bartender, was very helpful in helping us pick out wonderful Brazilian drinks.
The hotel was about a 25 minute drive from Campinas' newest mall, Dom Pedro. The hotel was a little out of the way, but that insured our safety on the premises. The Royal Palm would be one of the safest places in Campinas to take your children.
The food was excellent, and there was a very large buffet. We had American kids at the conference, and the staff prepared special mini cheeseburgers that were a hit with the kids.
The hotel landscaping is incredible and is a big contrast to the city streets. Tropical plants surrounded the covered walkways.
My favorite experience at the hotel was a party it put on for any hotel guests. It was western themed and they even had a mechanical bull. Also, the band sang popular Brazilian songs as well as American songs. There was even a country western dance performance that surprised me with the group's fast moving tricks. I don't like country in the states, but in Brazil they know how to make anything fun!
In all, it was wonderful. There were many nice people and many things to do. If you want to stay in Campinas, the Royal Palm Plaza is the way to go!
