Santo Tomas Hotel, Santo TOMáS Chichicastenango

Our mission group stayed here for a week in Sept 2008. The rooms were comfortable though basic. No complaints. The restaurant served our group of 30+ very nice meals. The staff was friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning for a second visit in Sept 2009. The location is a very short walk to the Sunday and Thursday markets, several ATMs, and several ice cream shops! The antiques all over the hotel public areas kept me amazed during our free time. The swimming pool on the roof was a pleasant surprise. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for couples and families visiting Chichicastenango. Don't forget a light jacket for evenings in September. Also, a pancho or light raincoat may come in handy as well. As for this beautiful hotel, don't expect a Marriott, you are in a foreign country, enjoy the experience!

this is our 2nd time there. We do mission trips and this one of our favorites. Inez the owner is onsight and always very helpful, Only a block from the market. Wonderful food and very reasonable. We will return next Jan.

Stepping into this hotel is like stepping into a living museum. The hallways are practically crowded with antiques and art and the courtyards are lush and green and filled with parrots. Even the restaurant was delicious. And don't forget to take a dip in the rooftop pool, it's a wonderful experience in it of itself.

I have visited this hotel often since 1982. It has been there far longer, family owned and operated. The entire hotel is decorated by truly museum quality antiquities, worth seeing. The lunch buffet on market days (Thurs and Sun) is delicious and a feast for the eyes as well. You can eat this with no worries. Enjoy the marimba music. You pay a small fee to use the bathroom but the pass is good all day, worth it as public facilities in the market are not very clean. If you choose to stay here be prepared for cool nights in Chichicastenango all year. The rooms can be chilly but there are fireplaces.
