Hotel Pan American, Guatemala City

The structure has had no noticeable work done to it half a century. The single-pane windows of the guest rooms face out onto streets, which are very busy and very noisy throughout the night. As the rooms are not air conditioned, the windows either remain open to the noise or one lacks any ventilation. The dining area is a portion of the hotel lobby, hence people are coming and going right by your table as you eat. Despite a fantastic location, an attractive bar, and pleasant staff, the hotel is totally unsatisfactory.

Since we have stayed there 6 times that should speak volumes about our experiences. I would give an "excellent" rating on all questions in all categories but I am comparing this hotel to that of hotels located in America(USA). The staff is friendly and the owners are Evangelical Christian so their words and guarantees can be trusted. We last stayed their earlier this month (July, 2007). One final, funny, story: Late one night I asked one of the waiters for a Coca Cola Light (what we call a Diet Coke). The waiter returned from the kitchen and told me "Señor, the Coca Cola Light is feeen-ished." I said "How about a Pepsi Light." He said "the Pepsi Light is feeen-ished too." With that I figured out what he meant. There were no soft drinks available at ~11PM. The waiter was not rude but was very cute. We look forward to a return visit next year. KLF Auburn, Alabama, USA

The hotel is in a bit of a rough neighborhood but is secure and very comfortable. I loved the "Old World" atmosphere. The food was great. It is located near a large plaza and Cathedral, which make for great sight seeing.

The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent. Great food, kind and attentive service and great, downtown location. Car parking available. Have stayed there consistently since 2000, recommend it to all.

We love the Pan American and have stayed there each year for more than ten years. The staff is friendly and they make you feel safe and comfortable. We can always count on the Pan American to meet any need that we have and the food is delicious too.
