thumbs up on Hotel Melia- charming

This hotel was a great deal for the money. It was charming, and we enjoyed our stay here. It felt like being in a Spanish villa in Europe.
There was a courtyard that was nice, and an enclosed pool area that was great. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the city square, it was very picturesque. We had stayed at some really divey places on our trip to Puerto Rico, and were pleasantly surpised with this place as we finally hit one that was really good. The furniture in the room was actually solid wood. The beds were big and comfy. The shower had awesome pressure. The a/c worked well and you could put it on high, medium or low. we loved this place.
The front desk staff was respectful, curteous and helpful in every way. Apparently the restaurant is world-class dining, although we didn't eat there.
Our vehicle was secure in a locked parking area. The houseman was always floating around tidying up etc. so, if you needed a hand with luggage or anything, he was quick to help out.
The continental breakfast was junk, but the same that everyplace else does, the standard danishes, and dry cereal, coffee and juice.
Our room seemed clean, as did the entire place. Pigeons pooped in the interior courtyard, and the staff seemed to be always cleaning it up.
The lobby was beautiful with lots of character.
Last, but not least, the location was the best. Right on the center square of town, near all the attractions, and near great restaurants. Try the Argentinian place around the corner, it was awesome.
There was an internet room available for free.
