A wonderful Place hope to go back someday
By Glenn, 05/22/09
A very well kept hotel with a wonderful staff. The staff was very friendly and helpful and met all of our needs. Our room with a balconey overlooking the town square was clean and well appointed. The continental breakfast was ample and more than I expected. We stayed at a similarly priced hotel around the corner from the Melia that does not come anywhere close in comparison. Thanks to the staff for making our trip that much more enjoyable. The only complaint was the A/C control.

Great place to stay in Ponce
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/07
Charming historical hotel with classy colonial architecture. A little expensive but an absolutely first rate restaurant with delicious food just off the hotel lobby. Entrance is less than a block from the main plaza, the quaint historic firestation, and a homemade ice cream place with some unusual local flavors. Great central location for foot-touring the historic district. Room was small but reasonably comfortable, although I had some problems getting the TV remote to work right. Complimentary breakfast is served on an open-air rooftop terrace. The view is great and it is nice to eat outside. However, one should not have to eat breakfast in the tropics without fruit, and this hotel is too classy to be serving margarine instead of butter.

A room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
You get a clean room. It's not the plaza, more homelike. The service is there if you need it, not like they're there to wipe your feet, just close by. The service is friendly and they leave you alone unless you need them. Rooms are done every day. If you are looking for a big breakfast, find a place, but if you like to nibble and enjoy all this area has offers then this is the place for you. Thank you to all those working at Melia, you are worth it!

Good location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/07
If you're looking for a place in the middle of the historical district this is a good place. I found the rooms to be unclean and outdated. They were also very small. The morning continental breakfast was nothing more than loaf bread, doughnuts and sugary cereals.

A little oasis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/07
My wife & I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Being Travel agents we stayed (and looked at) a numer of hotels in the PONCE area. This was definatley the pick of the litter (no pun intended). The pool was great after a full day of touring and the staff - though small in number seemed to be quite educated - everything from regular tourist things - where's the best restaurant to being able to help with the WIFI connection. Good place! Nightlife in PONCE is pretty scarce... They pretty much roll up the sidewalks after 6 or so.

thumbs up on Hotel Melia- charming
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/30/06
This hotel was a great deal for the money. It was charming, and we enjoyed our stay here. It felt like being in a Spanish villa in Europe. There was a courtyard that was nice, and an enclosed pool area that was great. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the city square, it was very picturesque. We had stayed at some really divey places on our trip to Puerto Rico, and were pleasantly surpised with this place as we finally hit one that was really good. The furniture in the room was actually solid wood. The beds were big and comfy. The shower had awesome pressure. The a/c worked well and you could put it on high, medium or low. we loved this place. The front desk staff was respectful, curteous and helpful in every way. Apparently the restaurant is world-class dining, although we didn't eat there. Our vehicle was secure in a locked parking area. The houseman was always floating around tidying up etc. so, if you needed a hand with luggage or anything, he was quick to help out. The continental breakfast was junk, but the same that everyplace else does, the standard danishes, and dry cereal, coffee and juice. Our room seemed clean, as did the entire place. Pigeons pooped in the interior courtyard, and the staff seemed to be always cleaning it up. The lobby was beautiful with lots of character. Last, but not least, the location was the best. Right on the center square of town, near all the attractions, and near great restaurants. Try the Argentinian place around the corner, it was awesome. There was an internet room available for free. Not a single complaint here on this place.

Charming...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/15/06
This is hotel is Ponce tradition. The room was small but comfortable and everything was in working order. The lobby is welcoming..has a very European feel. The terrace is wonderful (for breakfast) and the pool is a gem. We found the staff to be gracious and helpful. This was a good value, right in the center of Ponce. Don't miss the reknown restaurant, great food, gracious service. A real value. We would definately stay here on a return trip. Take a good map if you are going to drive in this town!
