Horrible, Discriminated Against!!!
This hotel came highly recommended to us and we'd been trying to make a reservation here since the new year. So on March 28, while back in Jamaica, the following is what transpired, leaving me with a very bitter impression of this establishment:
That Saturday, my boyfriend and I left Mandeville heading to St. Ann. Our intention was not to overnight there, but after getting a late start, we realized we would have to.
I called back to my mother’s house and asked her to find the number for your hotel and call to check availability for us.
My mother confirmed availability and my boyfriend (who has a very thick Jamaican accent) called right away to make the reservation.
Upon calling about ten seconds later, he was told by Tanya, that there were no rooms available
Strange. So I called right back, literally within seconds of him hanging up, and was told by the said Tanya, that “Oh yes, we have rooms, the cost is $6000 for tonight and $7000 for tomorrow night”
So, I made the reservation with the sole intent of arriving at the hotel to truly find out if my boyfriend was really being discriminated against for “having a Jamaican accent”
Mind you, I am Jamaican also, and so is my mother. And as far as I can tell, so is Tanya. But the fact that he sounded more Jamaican means he cannot stay in the Hibiscus Lodge?
Whatever HL. Go get your foreign money. I'll keep my US dollar in my pocket and spend it where I'm not treated as less than just because we're Jamaican.
