BEST PLACE ON EARTH
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/11
This place is comfortable, clean, relaxing and exactly what we needed. This was our second time back and our feelings didn't change. The first time we were in the Tortuga and the second at the Grand. The tortuga was just fine, but the Grand is a nice prestige/resort feel to it. We stayed on the beach, you must rent a car. But we loved the fact that we could explore. HIGHLY recommend this place. love it love it love it!!!

Loved every minute at Morritts!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/10
It is secluded and beautiful. Very white sand and beautiful ocean water. The sunrises and sunsets are awesome. I have been going there for 11 years and will continue to go every year as long as I am able. I love having the grocery store within walking distance.

Not all I had hoped for!
By Melissa, 9/10/10
First of all, don't think you can take a bottle of water with you to the pool. It's against the law on the island. If it isn't a pool where you have a swim up bar, you are going to get very hot and thirsty! The Grand pool has a swim up bar and so does the Premiere pool, but off season the bar in the Premiere pool is closed. There are 2 restaurants on the property. David's is open some days for breakfast, but right now (in September) they are closed on Tues-Thur. for dinner. You will be able to go to Mimi's cafe on the property for light fare and drinks. The resort provides beach towels for your room so you don't have to bring those with you, but be assured you better bring some shampoo because they won't give you any. The front desk staff isn't the friendliest on the island and your housekeeping staff will leave you an envelope to leave tips in for them. They don't seem to be very eager to see you or to help you. The restaurant staff is very nice, however. The beach is here is not as nice as you might hope for. Bring swim shoes because there are alot of rocks in the vicinity of the beach at Morritt's. You can go out a long way and the water is still shallow. You will see some Sting Rays and fish if you like to snorkel. If you snorkle close to the docks, you will see more fish. Down by Mimi's you will possibly even see some tarpon. They are huge! It is a long way from 7 Mile beach and the West Bay so be prepared to drive alot if you want to see the island. It takes about an hour to get to the West Bay, but is not too far from Rum Point on the Northern end. You will get dial soap in your room, nothing better so if you aren't a deodorant soap person, you better bring your own. I didn't have any significant issues with my room, but a fellow beach go-er said her shower stopped mid shower and didn't work again after that. She also said a door knob fell off and I did knock my soap on the floor a number of times because the soap dish wasn't securely fastened to the wall. There is a charge of 2.50 CI per hour to use the internet here. If you are an owner, you get a small discount. There are 3 pools on the property if you decide you can't handle all of the rocks in the water at the beach and if you sit on the beach you will use plastic lounge chairs without cushions, but can have shaded little huts to sit under if you want to stay out of the sun. Not a bad place to stay, but certainly not what I expected for a gold crown RCI resort. A starter bottle of shampoo would have been nice. You do get daily maid service though which is more than alot of condos offer. By the way, you will be expected to pay your electric bill for the duration of your trip in case you didn't read the fine print prior to coming here! That was a bit of a shocker. Didn't we already pay for the room, give the maid service an envelope with money and go buy our own shampoo? You will also have to pay island resort taxes on the room so before you book, make sure you get the final price and they tell you all of the things you have to pay for in advance.

We won't be going back
By Paul, 7/18/10
Got food poisoning at the restaurant and the staff denied it completely. I lost 3 days of my vacation and management didn't even reach out to me to see if I was okay, or comp my meal. Interestingly, there were other people that got food poisoning as well. All service staff is slow and could care less that we were even there. Internet never worked. Great beach, but nothing around the area. We will not go back and would recommend staying on 7-mile beach area instead.

We drove all over this island!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/10
Our stay at Morritts was very enjoyable. This was our first time going, and it was a great experience. If you like to get a lot of exercise, you will love this place. Morritts doesn't have elevators, and it is three stories. Morritts is FAR away from all the main activities. We put over 600 miles on a rental car going mostly to the South Beach side where everything is going on and all the snorkling. We loved Rum Point, Eden Rock, Smith's Barracade, Over the Edge restaurant (A MUST), Blow Hole on the east side, South Coast bar, Calico Jack's beach bar, and Kaibo was a very romantic place to eat. Stingray City was a great place to snorkle and pet the stingrays. The boat ride was very relaxing with music and punch! Coconut Joe's and Aqua Beach were great places to go to eat outside with good atmosphere and music. We ate at Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville, and it wasn't that good. The hamburger didn't taste that good. The best Conch fritters are located going towards the east side of the island at South Coast bar and resturant. Over the Edge Resturant going towards the east side is a great place to eat if you want to taste the island flavor, and it is a relaxing place. Be ready to pay for your electricity after staying here; however, the maid service is great here. We only had one situation where one of the desk clerks wasn't that nice to us, but everyone was always very friendly at Morritts. The condo was clean and very comfortable even with the sliding doors open with the ocean breeze. On the dock at Mimi's resturant, we enjoyed all the activities that were scheduled. We also enjoyed seeing all the fish that stayed around the dock looking for food whenever someone dropped food over the dock. We enjoyed walking and exercising, so being able to walk was a must. We could use the gym or walk around Morritts and The Reef Condo! Morritts is a secluded place, but it offers a wide variety of activities to keep you busy. The only nearby store is the IGA, so if you want to get groceries or items, you need to get it in town before you go back to the condo. The IGA close to the Morritts is very small, and it doesn't have all the other items like the bigger stores in town (Georgetown and north on south beach). My husband and I would like to visit again. This is a beautiful place!

service is good, nice & quiet location, perfect for a getaway only downside is food - not much choice so make sure you have a car & a copy of the Good Taste magazine from your condo! makes quite an exciting journey!

Very relaxing -- highly recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/17/09
Relaxing, wonderful place for a vacation! Being away from the hustle and bustle was just what we wanted. The resort staff was always helpful. The beach is well cared for and you can snorkel under or around the dock. We also spent many hours at Rum Point, a true jewel of the Island. A car is a must -- Highly recommend any water activities be booked through Red Sail, which are right on the property -- a class operation. We found a flyer for a trip to Stingray City, sounded like a wonderful 4 hour trip -- we found Captain Crosby, he was not even ready for us - claimed he needed 10 people to even take his boat out -- couldn't even get 10 people on a cruise ship day!!

Just Relax and Have a Good Time
By JessicaE, 12/12/08
I stayed at the Morrits Tortuga Club & Resort in November. This resort was beyond the most beautiful place I have ever been to. The things i most liked about it is that it is PERFECT for watching a sunrise in the morning and has all the activities that you could ever want to do. There's scuba diving, jet skis, water sailing, a gym, a pool with a swim up bar and much more. It's a quiet area that is good to spend quality time with you family or someone special. Teenagers that are traveling with their family will have a great time as well. Parents won't have to worry about how far their kids go because everything is close. There is a grocery store down the street that you can practically walk to and the rooms themselves are very spacious, clean and the staff is excellent. Back to the location, I stayed at different places in Grand Cayman and this one tops them all. It may not be on the same side as 5 mile beach but when you're ready to come back, rest and enjoy your trip, this place is excellent. Not to mention that Blair Underwood stays there as well. That was so exciting too. We had an excellent time and I recommend this to my best friends and everyone who is looking to have a good time in Grand Cayman. The only thing i disliked was that the motorized water sports were not included in the package. If that was an option, it would have been cool. But besides that I loved it there!

Great Island Feel !!
By Templistic, 4/1/08
The location and quietness of morrits is it strongpoints. If you are looking for a place for a relaxing vacation this is it.The shallow waters around the resort give the children a large playground that gives Mom and Dad the ability to chill on the beach. The pools are large and never crowded and all have kids areas. The snorkeling around the resort is decent for a quick look and the proximity to Rum point is advantageous for the more advanced underwater fun. The rooms are average but with the tranquil feel of the resort little time is needed in the room. The resort resteraunt is not to par with the great resteraunts on the island. Food accross the island is expensive. The night life seemed slow for singles.
