Atlantis is the worst...
By ,
Found the staff rude and lazy, witnessed a custodian sleeping on the counter in the men's room at the aquarium. i went as a tourist on a disney cruise outing and paid $95 each to use the facilities at atlantis only to find out that the pools were not included in the package. I waited 45 minuets for a cold cheese burger which was included in the "package" but would have gladly paid extra for "good" food. So don't confuse the "aqua adventure" with the "beach adventure." all of these are "disappointing adventures"

been there before--will be back again
By ,
I noticed a lot of negative reviews and I while Atlantis may not be the most updated resort out there, its definately worth going to. I've been(with my wife and 3 kids)in 2006, 2008, 2010 and going there again in October and I think its a great value.Yes I believe that 3 or 4 days is adequate and yes Its definately expensive and the meal plan is overrated but name a vacation where you have to fly to get there thats not been expensive. I've been to Hawaii, Greece, and Belize but for sheer get away fun with children the bahamas are hard to beat. I drive from Kentucky to Atlanta, Ga to Fly with kids for 5 days and 4 nights and counting food and all spend less than $3200 consistently on each trip(not counting gambling of course)is a pretty good trip. When you get to Atlantis you must go into town and buy supplies because as with any resort, it is expensive to get on premise. Yes the resort is starting to show its age but again for the money I think its great and kids love the water activities. The staff has always been helpful as long as you don't come across as being rude yourself. I'll let you know how the trip in Oct goes and for now I highly recommend Atlantis-especially if you have kids. Brian Mabe

Truly Paradise
By ,
After reading all of these negative reviews I would like to say something positive. Atlantis is awesome!! My wife and I took my daughter and two of her friends (All 14 years old). This is our fifth year in a row going and our eighth trip all together. I must have seen hundreds if not thousands of people all laughing and having a great time during our week stay at the resort. We gamble so one room is comped and the other is discounted. We stayed in the Royal Towers and had no issues whatsoever. My daughter and her friends spent all day at the beach or at the waterpark. In the evening they went to Crush or the movie theater. The food is very expensive but you can get reasonable meals at the Atlas Bar, Murrays, or Carmines. Here is the deal: We went when they were offering free companion airfare, total airfare for five people from Ohio $1300, two rooms in the Royal towers for six nights and nice meals for dinner and breakfast was very reasonable for being on a resort island. I dont like leaving Paradise Island to go into Nassau but I must tell you that the airport has made tremendous improvements over the years. This was a GREAT trip and we will be back next year!

Like getting ripped off?
By ,
If you like to gamble then this place is at least decent. otherwise dont beleive the hype. This place has poor service for the money. I deon't know what I expected but I thought if I was paying $20 K for a family vacation that at least some of the staff would have the ability to read and write. I am very dissapointed.

BEWARE of the poor service at Atlantis
By ,
this was a $15k vacation for 4 and was the worse trip we have ever been on. expensive, terrible service, and all promises no results. we tried many times to work with the management but were told sorry, too bad, nothing we can do. the employees are confused, friendly but not helpful and have no idea what is going on in the hotel. if you book the $250 dolphin swim you cannot depend on the hotel to assist as they dont tell you they are a different company.

Beautiful
By ,
My husband and I and our 7 yr old son just returned from Atlantis. We loved it. Thought the hotel was beautiful, the beaches were fabulous and my son loved all the pools. It's definitely a pricey vacation but Disney was just as pricey when we stayed at a Disney resort. The staff and locals were very nice to us. We did the shallow water dolphin interaction and we thought it was awesome. Overall it was a great vacation and I would definitely recommend it for families with young children.

Very Overrated, Not worth the $$$$!
By ,
My husband and I were full of excitement in anticipation of our trip to the Bahamas. We stayed at the comfort suites because it was cheaper than staying at the Atlantis and we still had access to the Atlantis. Our excitement quickly turned to diappointment. We stayed Monday through Saturday and we were ready to return home on Thursday. I thought the waterpark would have more attractions than it did. BTW, The lazy river is great. This resort only requires a 3 day 2 night stay to experience everything. Everything at the resort is overpriced. I am talking $10 for a cheeseburger and $5 for a bottle of water! It is very hard to relax and enjoy your vacation when you feel like you're getting ripped off at every turn. The food isn't that great. Even the food at the "Fish Fry" isn't that great. It's good but we have had better. I love the locals, they are very friendly and the weather was awesome. I see why I don't hear of many people who I know that travel frequently, travel to the Bahamas. This is our first and last trip here.

Be careful
By ,
We took a cruise to Nassau for our honeymoon. During our short stay in the bahamas, we found the locals to be very rude. They follow you around, begging you to allow them to braid your hair and buy stuff from them. We took a tour of Nassau and the people showing you around expect a tip. I gave a guy $2 and he got very upset and said thats what he does for a living and he cant make it off $2. I told him to give it back then and get a real job! Then, we stop next to the beach and the guys selling conches try talking to my wife. This was our honeymoon, so please understand my frustration. My wife is a former model, but this is not the way to approach anybody, much less a newly married lady with her husband next to her. These men kept on and on asking my wife to go with them and they will show her a good time! Telling her "Come on pretty girl, come with us and we will show you good time pretty girl"! I had to have our guide hold me back as I wanted to hurt them. The people were very pushy, rude, and not helpful. As far as Atlantis went, it was nice to see it, but definitely not worth spending big bucks on. Hopefully this will help you make your decision not to go to the bahamas.
