It was a wonderful experience. I hope to go back next summer and I will be staying here. You are within walking distance to great walkin distance to everything.It was worth our time and money.

I am dreaming of revisiting this spot. The location was perfect for our purposes. The staff at this hotel were just great. Room was very comfortable and we loved our balcony facing the ocean, sand beach, with terrific sunset views and seeing far up and down the coast. It was close to night clubs and some very fine restaurants all within walking distance. Golfing very close as well. Other family members had rooms further up the beach from our Pacifico, ours were the better accommodations. For Canadian snowbirds, this was a perfect choice for a winter getaway, sunshine galore, wonderful Pacific Ocean waters, the warmth of the Mexican sun, a great pool with a swim-up-to bar, lots of fun, hotel staff gave various classes to entertain kids and adults as well. This was in 1989, so perhaps the set up is not quite the same now, I want to go check it out again. We loved it there!!!! and while there, do not miss on visiting Zihua!!!! We saw a lot of the area on tour buses as well, very very interesting. The locals were pleasant and treated us tourists well. Note: Females - We noticed that Mexican dining room attendants loved white hair - it is unusual in their country I guess for some reason. So ladies of a certain age, just go au naturel, do not dye your hair, let it be naturally white, blonde, faded, salt and pepper, whatever, the amigos in Mexico, the staff young fellows at hotels will adore you!!!!! I tell you, they made my day!!! The others in the group had dyed silvering hair, but not me. A pleased snowbird or 2 - Felice Navidad et Prospero Annyo Felicidad Am I right? Rusty.

We took a trip down from 10/29/2011 to 11/05/2011 to “experience” the change over to Sunscape. I have not done a review of that trip until now, as I did not wish to present the hotel in a bad light with out the chance for them to settle in to the new management style. That said, here are a few things that I think that other past Dorado Pacifico patrons should be made aware of before they decide to return. Dress Codes: Dorado Pacifico was a laid back relaxing venue where common sense ruled the dress code. Sunscape has brought an Americanized version of Cabo Codes to they’re property. In the open air Palapa restaurant we were refused seating for lunch because my girlfriend had bare shoulders. Yes, bare shoulders at a beach resort. Scandalous! Your mileage may vary, depending on how young and or stacked you are, and what your Ooogle Quotient is on that particular day. (We saw other’s with little more than a couple of band-aids and a waist wrap seated by the same person that refused us). Time Share Sharks: AM Resorts has now staffed two Shark Ponds. One in relation to each bank of elevators. Some of the Shark Staff took No Thank You to heart and left us alone, others were a pain in the hind-end each and every trip through the hotel lobby. At least at that point back in November they were not down on the beach bothering us. Your mileage may vary. The Staff: Since this trip was very early in the change over, all of the previous staff was still on hand and fantastic as usual. They were trying very hard to keep up with all of the changes that seemed to happen almost daily. These folks are all fantastic, and I wish to in now way demean they’re efforts in attempting to make our stay what it once was. Unfortunately their hands were being tied. Food: There were only two of the five scheduled restaurants available to us at that point. The Palapa and Del Mario’s. The food was good at both, but the menu severely restrictive. They may as well have just came by and dumped a plate in front of you and said “here, that’s dinner”. It was far and away from what once was, but that is the All Inclusive venue I guess. To each their own. Smoking policy: This is a big change to the hotel. There are No Smoking rooms in the hotel any longer. We had booked a smoking room for the Oct/Nov. trip, and were not informed Until Check-In that smoking was no longer allowed in any room. Fine. New policy. Deal with it or go elsewhere. (which I would suggest that smokers highly consider) Having been Dorado Pacifico patrons for ten years, and the Dorado Pacifico having all of our contact information, one would think at least an e-mail informing us of the change would have been in order. We had reservations for a March 2012 trip (a smoking room was also on this itinerary) and did not receive any notification here either. So IMO the communication from Hotel to Booking Agents to Patron is in disrepair. CAVEAT EMPTOR. Should you book any special requests. Conclusion: We wish to thank the staff and the management of the Dorado Pacifico of years past, for all the wonderful stays that we have had with them over the last ten years, and wish them well on their future endeavors. Unfortunately this is where we part ways. We don’t wish to stay at an Americanized property when visiting Ixtapa with all it’s little rules and regulations. To leave those “retentive” policies behind is one of the major reasons that we vacation out of the U.S., or we would be going to Hawaii. Should you disagree with part or all of this review, then the new Suncape Dorado may be worth your while to consider. It just isn’t for us anymore. Room Tip: If you smoke go elsewhere.

This hotel is great for familys. There are two slides and they are the funnest things. There is a swim-up bar and it is huge. They do really fun activities during the day. Also the rooms were very very nice and comfortable. I totally reccommend this hotel to familys. The beach is gorgous. And the Workers cant get better, they're excellent!

I like the location and the service. Have been in this hotel 4 times. Not owned by a hotel chain. But lately no good package deals since Funjet does not have many flights anymore. I am using Apple Vacations now. E. Schuetz, Chicago

Very nice hotel, but the service was exceptional, room was up graded to jr. suite without asking, great food. a must if your going to paradise.

You feel like you are in Mexico! We went Nov/06 and still lots of 'locals' which make you even forget about English. It is a real place to rest and enjoy good life which includes great service, great people and best of all, sit down ask for some drink and enjoy the view and the day! I highly recommend it.

Fantastic, friendly staff, nice, clean rooms (as good as the 3 Hiltons I've stayed at), very good food in pleasant surroundings, nice pool and activities on the beach and around the pool. Lots of rich Mexicans bring their families here because it is safe and relatively quiet and the ocean is very calm. The area: very nice and inviting, but don't expect an action-packed stay. This is for families and couples, and is great for that. It is not near anything, though, so know that going in. It is not Miami. It is strictly a resort area, and is great for what it is.

The hotel is awsome. Rooms are great (all with ocean view...great view too) great food, pools are awesome...staff was great. We didn't have a single problem while we were there and loved every minute. Highly recommended.
