Costa de Oro Beach Hotel, El Dorado

Just returned from a 7 day stay. Hotel bar had the best Mango Margaritas. The room was clean and comfortable. The view was magnificient! Best restaurant right across the street, Gus Gus. Went to Emerald Bay time share review. Time share people are all around and inside the hotel. You do get some free stuff for a 90 minute sales pitch. They were very polite, not too pushy. Our only BAD experience was the deep sea fishing trip I paid for. When we arrived at the dock we were put in a "Tiny" fishing boat, not the nice cabin cruiser pictured. We went out for about an hour, but had to return. The hard plastic seats and rough seas were too much. No refund! City tour was OK, every tour starts at a fancy jewelry store. I didn't go to Mazatlan to see jewelry. Went on the Vista Tour to Cabala in the nearby mountains. That was the best! The town was so small, rock streets, ancient church, warm people and artisans. We had a delicious lunch. I would return to Costa De Oro Beach Hotel and Mazatlan. The local food was delicious! Tomatos were bright red. Don't miss the downtown market. Good buys.

I want to give recognition to cleaning equipment for their honesty leaves a pair of tennis, two days after I went to claim them and gave me my tennis.and the very attentive staff.

The people were very friendly, they would do what ever it took to make your stay more comfortable. The rooms are older and in need of updating but still very comfortable. The view of the ocean from the balcony is beautiful. Close to shops, bars, restaurants. Nice pool area, with outdoor bar and access to the beach. They have their own coordinators for a wide variety of activities, from fishing, snorkeling, boating, tours, etc.

Stayed at the Costa de Oro from the 20th - 29th February. Stayed in a 1bedroom ocean view. Rooms were really nice. 2 double beds, living room/dining room, two sofas that can be made into beds, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, fully stocked kitchen. Beds were really hard and pillows even harder so I would bring your own. Staff were not the friendliest I have encountered. Usually by the time we leave we are on a first name basis with waiters, lobby personnel, bartenders. The only one who got to know us was our maid Isabella. She was great. They have lots of things to do, bingo,ceramic painting, cooking lessons, manicure station, spa (massage-30$ 1 Hour), little store with snacks, pop, beer, etc. They also have a pretty pricey jewelry store. Pool and Beach are great. They do not have lounges and palapas on the beach though so the only place to sunbath is around the pool which is nice also because there is an area where you can watch the activities on the beach and the ocean. It is right in the middle of the Golden Zone so lots of places to go to eat,shop,etc. They do have the All Inclusive for 48$ a day if you would like, you can take it day by day or for the entire stay. We did really enjoy ourselves so would go back there again.

As an RCI exchange we were not happy with the Beach Club at Costa de Ora. We stayed in a good-sized two bedroom unit, however, there were bugs, (which the front desk gave us a can of Raid), a musty smell to the room, a rickety old, noisy, and smelly air conditioner, dirty furniture,and we were told not to drink the water in the unit. We were provided with bottled hot and cold water located outside the unit. Lots of music coming in through the windows from bars across the street. The pool sides were dirty and many chairs broken. By Mexican standards, our maid was not ambitious. On the positive side, our room was oceanside, the resort had a good breakfast, our king size bed was comfortable as were the two bathrooms. The grounds are lovely and the location is excellent. We enjoyed $25.00 massages at Christine(toward the Golden Z), parasailing for $25.00, and horseback riding ($15.00 for 1/2 hour. Skip the timeshare tour at Costo, but visit the Beach Burger at the square. It was inexpensive and the best food we had!

I really enjoyed the lay out of the hotel and the pool was beautiful as well as relaxing. The hotel staff were so friendly and courteous. The rooms are comfortable and the view of the ocean from our hotel was perfect. If you stay here upgrade to the ocean view or request the first floor by the pool. Such a great place I really enjoyed my time here.

This is one of the best hotel we have been in mexico I really like it, It woul be great to be there againg!!! Its a higly recomended hotel

My family & I stayed here for 4 days & it was awsome! My kids 12, 11 & 3 had a great time at the pool. Our suite location & the service was excellent! The beds were a kind of hard, but besides that everything else was excellent. We already have plans to return this year!

My wife and I were traveling on a budget. Our travel agent recommended the Costa de Oro. The staff was helpful and friendly. The timeshare solicitors will leave you alone...eventually. The pool and views are great. However, many visitors "reserve" the prime pool chairs in the wee hours of the morning; so, if lounging by the pool is important, you might as well join the crowd and claim a spot. We just went down to the beach. We found our room to be suitable. We are very active and typically use the room for sleeping, showering and changing. We recommend the Costa and will certainly stay there on our next trip to Mazatlan.

Myself and my other three traveling companions have been to Mazatalan many many times and stayed in many different places but by far this was our greatest experience. From our 10th floor suite overlooking the ocean to the waiters around the pool we had no reason to go anwhere else.Everyone was friendly and were ready to meet our needs at every corner we turned. We are already planning our next trip and can hardly wait to go back to the Costa de Oro for another wonderful 7 days in paradise. Thanks so much for the wonderful memories we brought home with us.
