Great Place
By Kristie, 1/11/10
Hotel was great. Very clean. Pools were clean and cool. Housekeeping and staff were excellent. Staff were very professional and helpful. Great poolside service. Located on main strip close to bars and restaurants. Did not like being haggled by people selling souvenirs on the beach. It is a public beach so there is nothing that can be done to improve that by the hotel. Experience was great. Would definitely recommend to others.

Excellent Staff!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/09
My husband and I stayed here with our 3 girls, 22, 22 and 24 years old. We liked the location because the hotel was on the strip and opened to the street. The pools were wonderful and the beach access and the beach location were perfect. We were spoiled by the very attentive, professional and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is located in a restaurant that has a panoramic view of the bay. Each day featured fresh eggs and pancakes made to order in addition to a vast selection of well prepared food. The service was excellent. Lunch at the pool includes everything from tacos to full meals and the service is excellent. Dinner is excellent but the main restaurant was closed so the serving area was not air conditioned and hot. The buffet nights were the best but again hot. We had 2 one-bedroom rooms that were large and comfortable but not great. The marble floors made the rooms not cozy and the air conditioning was not the best. There seemed to be a musty, damp odor throughout the halls and rooms. We actually requesed and got a room change after check-in because the floor we were originally on was so musty we couldn't breathe. The nightime noise was extremely loud but we chose this location for the excitement of being on the strip and knew it would be loud. The weekends were very crowded and there were many children. I did not feel that the children were overly loud or out of control and the hotel has many activities to keep them busy. Those of us who did not have small children seemed to exist peacefully with them unlike other hotels we have stayed at where the noise and activity ruined the ability to relax. Again, I give the wonderful staff credit for their professionalism in managing guests. I am actually going to miss some of the staff members! Overall I feet this hotel is wonderful for the price and the value added from the staff puts it over the top. We had a blast! I would recommend this hotel to everyone going to Acapulco on a family vacation, a honeymoon or for a relaxing getaway. I would not recommend this hotel as an upscale luxury stay, away from noise and the hustle and bustle.

The BEST hotel in the heart of town!!
By Ta.Truck2chief, 10/19/08
I have visited the Fiesta Americana many times now over the years & this hotel is clearly a top 2 overall along with the Emporio down the block as being the nicest hotel in the heart of town. This hotel has been 100% refurbished in early 2008 so all is new & up to date amenities. It boasts in hotel delicatessen that you can order online from to have items stocked in your room upon arrival. They have washing machines free of charge for those of us liking to travel light and having the ability to wash your clothes instead of packing for 2 weeks. They have Studios, 1 2 & 3 bedroom units to accomodate larger families in 1 unit. The pools are terrific with an unbelievable view of Acapulco bay that is just absolutely gorgeous. This hotel is actually built upon a cliff giving it an unparalelled & unobstructed view of the entire bay. To top it all off it is located on the livliest beach in Acapulco & the stretch of bar/ restaurants in the walking distance of this hotel makes it the very best of locations in Acapulco and a must stay for anyone considering a vacation in this city. I would never consider another hotel over the Fiesta Americana as it is simply a wonderful hotel with a great staff I look forward to my next visit in Feb 2009!!!!

Very Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/08
I am 18 and got back yesterday from this hotel - first of all, I was able to check-in with absolutely no problems even though I am under 21, staff was friendly and spoke good english at the front desk. I reserved a One Bedroom - European plan for myself and my girlfriend, and the room was huge. Separate bedroom with king bed and ~25 inch TV, large bathroom with jet tub and shower, kitchenette with stove, microwave, and large fridge, and a separate living area with couch, ~50 inch TV, two balconies, yes, two for some reason, adjacent and with a nice view of both the street and the beach/ocean. I was in room 1410 which was a corner room. The beach is nice, very crowded if you want shade, however, and there are people walking around trying to sell you massages or corn rows in your hair which gets annoying. You can get 4 beers for 80 pesos or about 8 US dollars, also food at the beach and room service is fairly reasonable, at around 100 pesos/10 dollars a meal. We ordered two Mimosas one morning for 120 pesos and they were delievered very promptly. We only ate one meal at the restaurant, the breakfast buffet, and I would not recommend it for the price (I think about 200 pesos per). However, there are plenty of places to eat around the hotel, which is what we did. This is a very nice place to stay, and I really appreciated how easy it was to walk outside the hotel and be in the city, go to bars, restaurants, walk around, etc. Random notes: - When we checked out we had a few hours to kill, so we asked the front desk if they would hold our bags, which they did. Maybe this is normal. - Read that brochure when you first get into your room. You'll discover that if you leave dirty dishes in the room, the maids will clean them for 10 US dollars (!). Needless to say my girlfriend cleaned lots of dishes this past weekend. - Directly across the street from the hotel is a store called OXXO, which is a convenience store and a good place to pick up drinks, snacks, etc. - Employees at the restaurants surrounding the hotel spoke VERY minimal English, almost none. I speak very minimal Spanish so I was able to competently order and pay for our food, but if you and your party speak not a word of Spanish.. well, it'll be tough to communicate. - Taxis in Mexico in general are willing to barter, to a certain extent, on a price to your destination. They do not have electronic meters like US Taxis. Remember "Cuanto cuesta?" (How much?) - If you are taking a bus from Acapulco to Mexico City to catch a plane, the bus company we took was Estrella de Oro, and the ride was 5 hours. It gets long. There's more, but the hotel is overall a very nice place to stay for either your family or yourself and your significant other.

Lovely Time
We visited this Hotel the week of March 24, 2008. This is a beautiful hotel. We did not have any problems. The hotel is located in the center of town. I loved the fact that we could walk to restaurants, shops, etc. It can be a little noisy, since it is located a few feet from a strip of nightclubs. However, when our patio door was closed, we could not hear anything. Our room overlooked the pool and the beach and the rooms are pretty spacious. We had a queen bed, sofa, and a table with chairs, and it was not crowded. The room also had a refrigerator. The staff was extremely friendly and after going on several tours and seeing other hotels and their locations, I would much rather be in the center of things. If you only want beach, pool, and nothing else, then perhaps a hotel in the New Acapulco Section would be better for you. It was a pretty crowded time, as the locals from Mexico City were on Easter Break as well. My biggest complaint is the cost of the food at the hotel restaurants. Breakfast was about $22 per person for the buffet and where I'm from, breakfast is the cheapest meal ($8)per person. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolute outrage: Terrible Hotel
By Frank, 3/31/08
I cannot believe this hotel has over four stars in the yahoo reviews. Nut shell: 1) The service is terrible. Probably, the worst I have ever seen in a large chain hotel in Mexico. 2) The food is much worse than the service. In fact, I ended up being served raw chicken, to which nearly a week later, I am still deathly ill. 3) The rooms are spacious, but very dated. They are very loud. Acapulco is a poorly desiged city and they run 6 lanes of traffic just a few yards from the beach and resorts. Even with the doors shut, the traffic is way too loud. So loud, that you cannot watch tv with the doors to the patios even cracked. Rooms do not have mini-bars and there is only standard cable avaiable (which means only 3 channels are in English) My jacuzzi tub (they sold me on a suite did not work). The people I was traveling with had to switch rooms because their AC pumped out a smell so foul as to rival a NJ land fill in August. There are DVD rentals in the lobby. About ten of them of them and all are terrible movies from the 90's. 4) The pool area is far too loud. They blast mad music all day. No matter where you sit, its too loud. It takes 20 minutes for a drink ordered by the pool to arrive. It takes even longer to get a bill. (I ended up simply leaving and within minutes they would always bring the bill up to my room--much quicker that way). 5) The beaches-location of hotel; are well typical to Acapulco, disgusting. I had more people trying to sell me drugs in front of the hotel than I have ever encountered in Mexico. The location of the hotel is very seedy. There was constantly a brown foam washing ashore. It was sewage and smelled accordingly. Acapulco beaches are a traegy. In sum: Most of the quests at the hotel come from Mexico City. Perhaps the levels of service and quaility of food is acceptable for visitors from Mexico City. But, anyone knowing better and having more options, stay far away from this debacle.

Wonderful View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/08
Just returned from a week at Fiesta American in Acapulco. The view from our room was very similiar to the view you have in Rio De Janerio (where I also have been), It was breath taking both in the morning and in the evening with all the lights on the mountain side. We stayed in l4l9 which is a one bedroom unit that had a fully stocked kitchen, living room with a pull out sofa, very large flat screen television, and a jazzuci in the bathroom, also there was a balcony off the living room and one off the bedroom. The pool was great, and they even allowed you to put the lounge chairs in the water. The pool also had a lovely view of the ocean and the beach. The Beach at Acapulco tends to be very grainy and hard on your feet, so I would definitely recommend wearing flip-flops (thongs) on the beach. It is centrally located with many places to eat nearby, Tacos & Beer, Tacos and Tacos, El Zorrito, there are also restaurants on the property, but we didnt get to sample them. You can take a bus ride outside your door to take you back and forth on main street for the small amount of 50 cents. Numerous stores near by to stock the kitchen such as WalMart and Giant Stores Also, you get free access to the computor and e-mail and the business center is open from 7:00 a.m.-midnight. The only negative aspect of this hotel is that it is near some clubs with loud music, but you solve that problem by closing the balcony sliding doors at night and enjoy the air conditioning. Would greatly recommend this hotel.

Best Hotel In Acapulca
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/06
I have been to Acapulco many times over the past 20 years and always stay at this hotel. It has changed somewhat over the years (it used to have an excellent long singles bar which attracted beautiful people walking by on the street before dinner) since it was called the Condesa Del Mar, but is still the best hotel in the city for meeting or bringing the laid-es. Great spot for honeymoon stays with very large two corner balconies on the upper floors overlooking the pool with a fantastic view of the sun setting over the bay. (It usually takes a small br(tip)ibe at the front desk to get one of these rooms for your stay, but its worth every cent). Pool is great, street noise is a bit loud at times. Breakfast buffet and pool drink and lunch service is excellent. I recommend you do dinner elsewhere (Madieras resturant) on the top of the hill heading into town from the airport is a must at least once if you want to really impress a significant other. (Dinner will cost you about $100.00 but the food quality, service and view are fantastic - call for reservation at least 2-3 days before you want to go or you won't get in.

My home away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/12/06
I have stayed at this hotel 15 times over the past 37 years, and infact never stayed at any other hotel. It has changed names at least 3 or 4 times over these years, but a-lot of the same staff is still there. The worst thing I can say is if you want to reserve a certain room, or type of room, good luck because I never can get what I request! This is a very small thing considering everything else is near to perfect, for me it feels like a little bit of home.
