Health and Greed
By ,
The Delta Chelea is one of the few hotels where one can find a good muesli at breakfast, but I had my last bowl of Chelsea muesli this morning (Jan. 28/07). Why: (1) Price The price has gone up. $6.79 (including taxes) for a small bowl of muesli and fruit is outrageous by any stretch of the imagination, particularly when it is in a self-serve cafeteria in a lower-end hotel. (2) Health The fruit (apples, prunes and peaches) served with the muesli is loaded with added sugar. Adding sugar is particularly aggregeous in a hotel frequented by so many families, when we now know the serious harm too much sugar does to families and society. While on the subject of health, quite some time ago I stopped going to the Chelsea cafeteria for meals to take advantage of the salad bar, because it is totally lacking in complete protein choices.

Delta Chelsea Hotel - Close To Everything
By ,
The Delta Chelsea is located right in the heart of Toronto. Close to the entertainment and financial districts. Very close to Yonge street, shopping and Yorkdale.

Avoid if you don't like cockroaches
By ,
On a trip to visit family over the Thanksgiving weekend, several members of my family stayed at this hotel for. My mother and I stayed in one room on the 26th floors, while other family members stayed in other rooms on lower floors. While the locations is convenient, and the staff generally friendly, we were deeply unimpressed by the rooms. In addition to having our toilet overflow for no clear reason one morning just as we were preparing to go out for the day, we saw cockroaches twice during our four night stay: once in the closet where I was keeping my clothes, and once in the bathroom. From the size, shape and movement of the bugs, there is no question at all that they were roaches, and not some other kind of beetle. My mother and chose to stay in the room rather than upset our other relatives who were staying there, and included a family with young children that would have had a hard time moving to another hotel. My mother did quietly alert a manager to the problem on the morning we checked out of the hotel, but in a follow-up phone call the manager told us that their staff was not able to find any bugs, and did not sound like she had any intention of fumigating or otherwise dealing with the apparent infestation. My mother and I have both stayed in many hotels and hostels, and neither of us has ever seen a cockroach before. So, while the Delta may have a convenient location, unless you're fine with the idea of living with roaches, and potentially bringing some home with you in your luggage, I would suggest finding a different hotel for your stay in Toronto. I, for one, will never stay at the Delta again.

Give it a miss
By ,
I stayed at this hotel three times in the last year on business. I have given it a fair chance. Now I wont be going back. Service (reception desk) is always very slow. The "all-day" in-room dining stops at 11pm. On my last visit I had a room service meal for the first time. The food quality was poor: onion soup was lukewarm, the chicken breast in the salad was old and tough. The fruit salad served at breakfast should have been thrown out days earlier (it was off!). In the unlucky event that you have stay there, make sure that your room is not adjacent the fire escape/stairs. The security guards patrol these at night and so the opening and closing of the doors and the two-way radio noise is guaranteed to wake you at regular intervals.

Great Hotel
By ,
July 16-19, Booked prememier room and front desk upgraded to a superior room at no charge. These rooms are completely renovated and service if 5 star. All staff were excited about working at the Chelsea and quick to respond to anything with a smile. Sauna, swimming pool, balcony with wonderful view. Highly recommend. Food was excellent.

Great room, top-notch service
By ,
We're chose this hotel because it is centrally located in the Toronto area and convenient to the theater district. The room was comfortable and nicely appointed, but still modestly priced as part of a theater/hotel package. The staff was friendly and very helpful, with value-added services such as helping us to find our way around town, and holding our bags in a secure location for a late departure. We loved it, would stay there again, and would recommend it to friends.
