Great hotel in a great location
By ,
Our experience at the Fairmount Royal York was great. The hotel is both historic with the most up-to-date modern amenities. The room was both quiet and clean, and concierge staff was great at assisting us with sightseeing tours of Toronto. Look forward to staying here again.

WILL NEVER GO BACK
By ,
I want to inform you of the issues I encountered on my stay at the Fairmont Royal York the night of 09/08. I’m very disappointed in the actions of some of your employees. My Sunday 09/09 morning started with a housekeeping lady knocking and attempting to walk into my room (8-160) at 9am. If we had not placed the bar across the door she would have been in the room immediately after knocking. We advised her we were there and she should leave. I did call to the front desk to advise them of us being awakened. Within ten minutes she was back and attempted getting in the room for a second time. I then again called the front desk to complain. At this point seeing we had been woken up we thought we would take a nice swim. The pictures of the pool were beautiful and we thought that a nice Sunday morning swim would relax us after the way the morning had started. Were we ever wrong. When we arrived at the pool we were greeted and given our towels. We proceeded to the pool to encounter a minimum of 30 children screaming and carrying on; quiet was the furthest from what was happening. The pools were so full there was no way we could have swum. We decided to leave, the screams echoed so load in that small room. When we advised the attendant she said “well they are all together” we could see they were from the same group. She and the chaperones should have addressed the children that other patrons were there to enjoy the pool as well. Instead we get offered to go to our room and wait for them to vacate the pool and she would call us, I was shocked that she thought that was a solution. We decided at that point to check-out. After checking out we attempted to use the elevator to leave. One arrived and a man informed us it wasn’t working that we needed to use another. Another elevator arrived 2 men started to inform us we could not use that car either. Apparently I didn’t have enough status and the money I paid to stay wasn’t good enough because all of a sudden the “broken” elevator was working for a well dressed women. I have no idea who she was and frankly I don’t care. I deserve the same treatment as any other guest. The last straw was when we were leaving the parking garage. Upon checking in and out we were advised that the hotel has parking vouchers. This was presented as the fees for the garage were covered. To my surprise we had to pay an additional $21.00 to leave. You need your front desk personnel to explain that it is a discount rate not a parking voucher covering the parking. I feel very misled and mistreated by your employees. I will also be advising AAA the agent that this stay was booked thru. Your employees showed inappropriate behavior and handling of my stay. Needless to say I will not be recommending the The Fairmont Royal York to my family and friends. It would be appreciated to hear from you, I would like a form of compensation for the mistreatment of myself and fiancé.

Would definitely stay again
By ,
Location to all downtown attractions, subway, Hockey Hall of Fame, Hummingbird Place was ideal. Although the rooms are a bit small and modest, shopping and dining within the hotel provide many options. Staff and concierge were polite, friendly and most helpful. Exchanged currency and were more than happy to recommend restaurants and attractions. We visited Richtree Market located in the vicinity of the hall of fame and it was an unforgettable dining (and people watching) experience.

Incredible!
By ,
We just stayed in the royal suite :) I mean, what can I say, it was incredible. The room is enormous, however for the royal suite the tvs were quite small (there was 3 of them), I guess the queen doesn't like to watch tv or something....3 bathrooms as well, also pretty small, but the living and dining rooms are huge, the whole place can fit and has fit around 100 people, it's pretty amazing. The service is excellent, the staff were kind and courteous, I'd stay there again in a second! The royal suite was a once in a lifetime thing, but another room will do just as well.

For the Refined and Elegant
By ,
This hotel is located downtown smack dead in the Financial district. Many banks and businesses are near-bye. Walking distance from the Hockey Hall of Fame, many restaurants and minutes from CN Tower. This hotel is an art piece. With its fine carpet, tiled flooring, Chandeliers, spiral stairs, chaise lounge chairs, fine furnature, and lavish decor. You will be so amazed just staring around at everything from Cigar shops, Jewelery stores and fine dining. The bedind and window fixtures look like for royalty. Well it is called the Royal York. It resembles a very European English Castle inside. It can be very pricey and the rooms although Luxurious are kind of small.

The only thing better than being in Toronto is staying here! The service was second to none - it really felt like a home away from home.
