Should have stayed hidden
By Jason, 01/02/10
The room quality fell well short of the images shown on the web site. There were virtually no resort activities, unless you wanted to go to the obviously better equipped resort next door. Room was not ready when arrived, had to wait for two and half hours after check in time. Were not made to feel comfortable or confident during this two and half hour period. While resort is pet friendly, promise of a "pet welcome package" was never received and when asked were told that they did not have any ready. Buffet for New Years was of fair quality but fell well short of the price tag. Insufficent parking at the hotel, needed to park in overflow parking lot about three hundred feet down a steep hill. No paths cleared from overflow parking to the hotel.

Great Muskoka Resort Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/06/06
We arrived at HV Muskoka on a Friday night and were able to listen to a live band in the bar which was great. The Birches has innovative cuisine and the menu was above our expectation with good value for the price paid. Our rooms were simple, but we had a great lake view and the beds themselves were delicious. feather beds, duvets, great sheets and pillows. The bed was definately a highlight. We hear the massage therepy is great but we were not able to sqeeze that in. We went shopping in Huntsville, cute boutiques and galleries. WE visited the Christmas Shop, The FInds, and Shutterbug Gallery. All in all a great little spot where you get personalized service at a great price. Our room was less than $130.00 and who could ask for more?

What an improvement!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/06
Just got back from our summer vacation in Muskoka. Have stayed at this hotel in the past as a Holiday Inn and Best Western. 3 years ago decided we would never go back and have been going to Deerhurst ever since. We heard that there was new ownership and management and decided to give it another try. WOW, what a difference. The beach is beautiful, the lobby looks wonderful and the beds are so comfortable, I almost didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. It is like a brand new place with the same old building. The best thing is, it was the same price as the Best Western out on the Highway and we were on the Lake! They claim to be the affordable vacation destination in Muskoka and they are doing it. Clean, nice, great view, on the lake and you seem like you are getting value for the $$ spent. I'll be back.
