I stayed at this hotel for three nights while in town for work. I would usually arrive back around 6:30 and sleep before heading out on the town to eat ( You quickly find that theres hardly any good food places in quick walking distance. and were talking before 12am). Anyways, the place has a lot of drunks hanging around and people loitering just after sun down. The walls are thin and I was always hearing loud bangs, door closing in the hallways and people talking etc... The rooms were fairly clean, nothing special by all means but decent. Staff seemed friendly and they helped me with one small card issue promptly. They have security later on, which always makes a place seem a little safer. One thing that really stuck out though for me in a big way was the internet, somebody living in this hotel is using all the internet cause I was having nothing but problems... Couldn't even load a old basic youtube video or search google etc.. conclusion : Stay here if your having a hard time finding another spot and or your needing to crash for one night etc. At the end of the day it is what it is, it's how you cope with the situations and maybe the internet was just bad during my stay... who knows.

Drunks all around!
By ,
It's a nice hotel, but the walls are paper thin and the drunks in the loby and bar are unbelievable and a little scary. Seriously they need to clean up their image and stop trying to make money off of peoples addictions. There has to be better ways to earn a living.

excellent hotel but be careful about your vehicle
By ,
We were a bit apprehensive after reading some negative reviews, but we enjoyed the hotel. The bedding, carpets and floors were all very clean and well maintained, and the WiFi and cable worked well. We enjoyed the breakfast downstairs, and the staff was polite. The hotel is very centrally located with most event centers and sites easily within walking distance and historic buildings all around. Most buses from other parts of the city stop along Graham Mall, which is a block and a half away. It was an excellent hotel for the price. However, please take into account if you are staying at the Marlborough Hotel that while it is a beautiful city with a lot of historic charm and fun events in the summer, Winnipeg, especially downtown Winnipeg, has much higher crime rates than other Canadian cities, and car break-ins are common, especially if your license plates are from outside Manitoba. We were disappointed that the hotel staff suggested that we park in the parking ramp across the street. Someone smashed in the window of my friend's SUV and broke into it, apparently looking for valuables, and the same thing happened to two other vehicles parked in the same ramp the same night. We highly recommend either getting a club and an alarm system for your vehicle before going to Winnipeg and parking either in a very visible spot (i.e. right in front of the hotel where the staff can see it) or in a ramp with 24-hr security if you must park downtown. If you could find a safe place to park outside of downtown and then take a city bus into downtown, that would probably be best.

Good value
By ,
We stayed at this hotel for 2 days for our anniversary. We picked it because of the central location and the historic building. We had a pleasant stay and thought the staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel needs some renovations done to bring it up to date, but it was very comfortable and we would stay there again. If you are looking for a top class hotel, you probably want to look elsewhere, otherwise it is a nice stay in downtown Winnipeg.

This hotel is an excellent hotel for people who wants to be downtown. Front Desk agents were good and cool but one was excellent. I thought I am living in my own house. In front desk a girl one girl was bitchy the first night and I thought I was in wrong place. the second day an indian looking boy (alex)who made my day. extrodinary professional and very helpful. I would suggest this hotel to all of you, just go and book the hotel and do not listen to anyone. for $76.00 you cant even find a motel.

Great downtown stay!
Our trip to Winnipeg was brief, but our stay at the Marlborough Hotel in downtown was a wonderful bargain that made our stay memorable. The building is beautiful, right in the heart of downtown, and is surrounded by many things to do. Also, if you have kids, the hotel features a giant waterslide leading into a pool, with a nice-sized hot tub for the adults. The rooms are also very nice. We stayed in a corner room and it was very big, with a big couch and beautiful furnishings. The staff were very friendly and our stay was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, and with the great deals they post, I will be making my way to this stop again!

Really enjoyed our stay here in Winnipeg- the service personnel were great and the hotel was beautiful! Because it is downtown Winnipeg, there are lots of great shops right in the area. But also because of that, there are some sketchy characters walking around and lots of panhandlers begging outside just down the block. Overall, however, our stay was great, and some of those things the hotel can't control. We will definitely come back!
