Villa Motel, Nelson

this place was terrible! we arrived late to find that apparently our reservations had been cancelled several days before without our knowledge, so the staff proceeded to charge us $30 more than I was quoted... for a room far inferior to that you could get for the same price in town. the staff were rude and took no responsibility for their error (assuring me that i in fact had called and cancelled), and the room was nothing at all special for the (greatly inflated) price. the location is nice, right beside the bridge, but not overly convenient. i spoke of my experience to a friend in town, who it turns out had an identical experience with the Villa upon arrival in Nelson. Thus it seems more like business practise than the odd oversight, I would advise against wasting money here when there are such better places downtown. also, the pool was closed. sigh.
