Hot, Stuffy, Rundown, Unfriendly
We must have run into the same desk staff as brain22. We arrived early and a disinterested desk clerk was adamant that no check in was allowed before 3:30 - no offer to store baggage, no offer to check if any rooms were actually ready, generally rude.
Actually getting into the room was no improvement. The room was hot, stuffy and well worn. There was a portable AC unit in the corner. When you turned it on, you couldn't carry on a conversation (or hear the TV) and you got a trickle of cold air. There was no corresponding unit for the bedroom (we had a suite), so your choices were to swelter or to open a window and listen to the rooftop AC unit some twenty or thirty feet away.
The suite had a refrigerator that looked like it had been bought at a garage sale. When you walked around the room in light colored socks, you could see the dirt accumulate on the bottom of your feet. The "hot" tub was tepid.
The only bright spot was the bell man. He was friendly, courteous and efficient.
Oh yeah, the location is good. Don't get your hopes up about the attached "mall" - it's more a collection of tired shops that happen to be in the same building. They do give it a kind of third world feel.
These guys also own the Grove Hotel in Boise, but don't expect anything remotely similar to the Grove, it's nothing that nice. For the price paid, it was extremely disappointing and marred an otherwise pleasant trip.
