No sleep in the City that never sleeps :)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/2/09
Location is great, and if all you want is a place to put your head after a night of partying, then this is the best. The staff were amazing, very polite and eager to help. My wife loved the decor of the rooms and the king bed was to die for! The good stuff ends right there. There is no way to control the temp of the room, so it was so hot we had to open the windows. With the window open you can hear EVERYTHING from a 2 block radius. The walls are paper thin and we heard everything the German couple were doing at 3.30am! We paid $14 extra a night to park our vehicle which brought the price up comparable to the other 'concrete construction' hotels in the neighbourhood.

Beware!!
By a, 8/1/08
We recently visited the Moda Hotel for a 3 day vacation. We wanted to stay near the Robson district and found that the Moda Hotel was the closest and most reasonable priced hotel. When we arrived to the Moda Hotel, we were informed that they no longer had a parking garage and that the daily rate for parking was $15. We were upset by this news, especially to find that the hotel would not reimburse their guest for this inconvience. We proceeded to the lobby to find that no one offered to help us with our 4 bags and not to mention the elevator was very small. We are exhaused and are ready to find our room and just take a nap, but when we find our room we find that there is no air conditioning (just a fan) and the bed is so hard, you might as well sleep on the floor. We unfortunately stayed in a room near the street and like others have mentioned, it was very noisy. I proceeded to ask if there was an ice machine and a pop machine and was told that it was on the 3rd floor. Needless to say, I traveled to every floor insearch of the machine and never found it. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is in a good location (close to the popular tourtist attractions), that it is reasonably priced, and that the decor is great.

noisy night
By ElizabethS, 5/31/08
if you stay here, ask for a room not facing the street. otherwise all you'll hear all night is traffic, buses and people arguing (as it is in close proximity to yaletown and tons of bars). on a positive note, it has a very cool, modern decor and is a great size for a weekend trip.

Friendly and Excellent
By Gary, 11/4/07
This hotel is located perfectly for a walking tour of the city. The staff is very knowledgeable about public transportation and sites of interest. The surrounding area has greatly gentrified and the people I saw walking past the hotel were all "yuppies". I stayed at the hotel for 10 days and came to count on Melodie, Chris, Ivana and Nahid for information and help. It was very quiet and peaceful at the hotel and I found it a safe neighborhood to walk in after dark. The hotel is well placed for restaurants, shopping and public transportation. The room was well appointed and comfortable. I recommend the hotel highly.

Remodeled and Great
By Tom, 6/8/07
This hotel is no longer the Dufferin and is now called the Moda. I never stayed here when it was the Dufferin (it sounds like it was a mixed experience at best) but it is now very pleasant. The location is solid-really close to Granville and also walkable to the rest of downtown. It has been remodeled in a typical modern style with lots of bold whites, blacks, and reds, streamlined furniture, and stark design. Though it is very nice, it is obviously an imitation of high end hotels of this style and not quite the real thing. Nonetheless, for the price and the good feel of the place, I will definitely take an imitation of modern over the floral bedspreads and fake wood of chain hotels.

HORRIBLE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/07
This was the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in!!!!! We checked at 3:00 to find they had given us keys to a filthy room that had not yet been cleaned...... they said one of the house keepers had not showed up!! At almost 6:00 the room still had not been cleaned. With not so much as a appology we cancled our room and went to the Hampton down the street!!!! NEVER stay here is will be a big mistake!!!!

Great value and location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/05
This place is perfect value and location. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A couple blocks form airport bus and everything is near by. I'll stay there the next time I'm in Vancouver.

Just a seedy hotel
By Watson, 5/25/05
I didn't have any reservations anywhere else, came into town on a whim. This was the only place with any vacancy. It wasn't that nice, but i've stayed in much worse.

worst hotel ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/05
We have written to Travelocity to request a refund. We checked out one hour after checking in. Vagrants on sidewalk. Tattered lobby. Room floor sloped so badly as to be unsafe. We were met in the lobby by a swearing drag queen (the hotel clerk announced that the hotel bar was having a drag show that evening and we were invited.) Hotel clerk had no record of our reservation. (We had ourYahoo/Travelocity printout, luckily.) Furniture in room looked like leftovers from a 1950's hotel remodel. OK, it looked clean, but clearly was more of a residence hotel. We will avoid using Yahoo for hotels forever! We have requested a refund from Travelocity. Our worst hotel experience ever! (We are experienced travellers and have stayed in many, many two star hotels all over the world. This one rates not even one star.
