Fairmont Palliser Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/08
I booked a room at Fairmont Palliser through my Corporate Travel Account. In the instructions, I clearly mentioned I need a "non-smoking" room. I was scheduled to arrive at 1 PM in the night and I had already given instructions about late arrival to the hotel. When I checked in at 2AM on the cold winter night, the receptionist gave me the room. As I entered the room, I felt that I have entered in a smoke factory. I immediately called the reception and told him that I am allergic to smoke and I need a smoke-free room, he told me that this is the only room left in the hotel and there is another room which has a folding cot with 1" mattress. I had paid top dollars $270 for the room and it was completely impossible to sleep on the cot. When I declined to take that room too, he said they were completely sold out and if I want to move to another hotel, they would not charge me for "no-show" as goodwill.
I was unlucky as all hotels were completely sold out, and I ended up in a road-side motel. I was sleepless all night and vowed never to stay in any Fairmont hotel again.
There service is horrible and they tend to deceive people by falsely advertising about availability of non-smoking room.
