elegance and great value in non chain hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/5/11
Stayed here in March 2011 1 night and back in May 2010 2 nights. Very nice smaller scale hotel. Pleasant staff, clean, quiet, none smoking rooms, comfortable beds (we stayed in King size bed ) clean bathrooms ,with great mirrors and lighting, good size rooms with large flat screen TV and small desk or table and chairs as well as an arm chair. Great complimentary breakfast. . dinner in the Royal coach dinning room was good maybe a little on expensive side for this trip But great for a romantic evening. Really enjoyed Julians piano Bar in May 2010 Very nice atmosphere, friendly bar maids and could just watch the fish and listen to entertainment all night. No time for a drink this trip Close to Kingsway Garden Mall, Royal Alex Hospital, not far from WE Mall and downtown

Like rude people?-This is definately your place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/10
The rooms, facilities and location made this an appealing choice when we booked. However, the front desk staff immediately, upon our arrival, made us wish we had chosen differently and it only got worse. Indifferent or no customer service would have been better than the rude, snide, and completely unproffesional conduct of the staff at the front desk. These are the people who create that all important first impression, and they failed miserably. There are hundreds of decent facilities to stay at in Edmonton, and we have definately chosen differently since this experience.

If you have a choice, don't stay at Chateau Louis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/08
The rooms are great, I don't have a complaint about it. The front desk agents do not have the proper customer service or etiquette at this location. I have travelled to many places and stayed at different hotel, customer service, aside from the rooms are my first 3 priorities. This woud encourage me to back there. At Chateau Louis, which was my first time here, has bad service when you ask for assistance. My first impression of this place went down the drain and I will not recommend anyone to go there if customer service is something that is important to you. I am willing to pay more for proper service else where.

Should never have been CAA approved!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/08
Rooms had only one speed for heat or cool and that was SAUNA! Shower doors were broken and allowed water to leak all over the floor! "Hot breakfast included " means wait in line forever and they may or may not refill anything in the buffett! Not going back....not reccommending

Smoking room for children
By Anarchenisis, 5/5/08
My daughter had the displeasure of being stuck into a smoking room during an Army Cadets field trip to Edmonton. She found the entire experience disgusting. A little better planning on the part of the front desk might have been in order. (Yes, my disappointment has been voiced to the officer in charge of the Cadets)

The bed had someone else's hair and blood on it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
We were going to stay here since we had a meeting in their conference rooms the next day but having stayed there 7 years before, I was a little unsure about this place so we paid a lot to have a newly redone king size room. It looked impressive when we first went in with the flat screen TV, leather furniture and granite counter. However, I wondered when there was an used bottle of shampoo in the shower but thought, "maybe they just missed it." We went downstairs for a mediocre meal on tablecloths with crumbs on it. When we went back to our room and pulled the sheet back (having taken off all the throw pillows) the pillowcase and sheet had obviously been used by a former "guest" who had left hair on the pillow. We phoned for someone to come and 20minutes later the night watchman came with a queen size sheet. At first it was obvious he didn't take our word but turning the pillow over noticed there was blood on the pillow. He then tried fitting the queen set on the king bed but with little success. He said that he couldn’t do much else as no one knew where the king sheets were kept. He phoned down and eventually said we could move “if we wanted” and found the only other "possible" room up a floor. He seemed offended when we said that we wanted to check it out before we would just take the new keys and phoned down to the front desk to state his unbelief. So moving rooms after midnight, we went to the very dated "Jacuzzi room" where he checked the bed and quickly left. We went into the bathroom and there was hair on the sink, floor, and toilet. That was enough we were leaving. When we went downstairs to the front desk to check out the "host" just said "yeah whatever, but we have no other rooms”. There was no offer to help us find somewhere else and there was no apology. I will NEVER go back and I strongly suggest that no one stay at the Chateau Louis.

Want Honesty?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/07
My husband and have been regualar guests of the hotel for several reasons; rooms are clean, staff are helpful & friendly and of course who can resist a free breakfast!!! All this at a reasonable price. I don't know how they do it??? In January we were guests and in our hast to leave the hotel that morning (and not for the free breakfast) we forgot a GPS in our room. I purchased this for my husband for Christmas, which is worth $500.00. We were sure when we arrived home that we packed it, we seached everywhere. Our last hope was to call the hotel and see if they had it. We were shocked to discover housekeeping found and and promised we could pick it up on our next trip. I cannot express, in this day and age, how relieved we were and truly shocked that we got it back. So to housekeeping, great job and thank-you. I will always recommend this hotel to anyone who does and doesn't ask.

The entire staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Upgraded room was very clean, as was the entire hotel. Service was great in all areas of the hotel.
