Recent business trip

I liked the location in downtown. Some nice places to eat close by. The roof top dining has a good menu. It was a good dining experience. Many of the things that would be standard were extras to the bill.

Unsatisfied customer
By ,
My family and I recently visited the Crowne Plaza. We were traveling with my mom who is elderly and handicapped requiring a little more attention and speed in service as all was tired from the travel. We all felt that the guest services staff could use more training in customer service. (For one thing they could be a bit more welcoming - seeing as this could possibly be someones vacation and temporary home away from home). One particular receptionist was rude and incompetent making us wait almost an hour for a room we had booked ahead of time. She could not find our paper work and appeared to have not put any effort into looking for it in the first place (as the manager found it within minutes). After that, we were then directed to the wrong room (different from what we had requested) which is terrible when you're traveling with someone that has difficulties walking and tired easily! They also stated no wheelchairs were available for us to use after we had made arrangements for one to be available (again not much effort put in to finding one). When we finally got the room we had requested it was spacious (as expected of a penthouse suite) but very dated. Furniture looked as if it had been pulled off the set of that 70's show. I did not feel it was worth what we had paid for. I think Crowne Plaza should put more effort/and $ into renovating their rooms and changing with the times. If you can't afford that, at least change your staff to people that know the demands of the hotel and customer service industry!

would not stay again
By ,
Our family had stayed for 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza for a wedding. The hotel was beautiful and rooms were spacious. Beds were comfortable. However the restaurants need to avoided if possible. Twice we went downstairs to have breakfast and once we found hair in the buffet and second time there was mold all over a piece of bread they had. I would hate to see the cleanliness of te kitchen. Both visits the staff was unattentive and was more worried about their own conversations. We also tried our luck at the bar but left after not seeing a waitress or bartender for 15 mins. Maybe they were closed? at 7pm???? The front desk staff was very helpful and pointed out some great places to eat and shop at. We would definately stay again at the Crownw Plaza but will spend our money elsewhere to eat!!

Exceptional hotel in downtown Edmonton; Great value
By ,
This is a landmark building in Edmonton and - at one point in the 1960's - thetallest building in the city. The hotel has a kind of retro-cool to it - with it's circular architecture and rotating restaurant at the top of the building. The views from the rooms and the restaurant are amazing. The rooms are very comefortable and homey - and are pie slice-shaped. The rooms seem to be updated with new furniture - but still seem to have an upscale 60's feel to them. The room was not huge - but very comfortable. The rotating restaurant is upscale - but the food was amazing. Make sure you try the deserts - especially the cheesecake. Also, the room price makes this an exceptional deal. I paid $69 for a room with an amazing view of the valley during peak season. That just can't be beaten. Overall, staying here was extremely satisfying and I will certainly stay here next time I am in Edmonton.
