National 9 Gillette, Gillette

It is frustrating to read reviews that are so negative in regard to this hotel. Those negative reviews set me up to think that the experience would be terrible and in all honesty I got the exact opposite, a great experience and great service. After staying at the National 9 Gillette, I really wonder what people expect for what they paid. Sounds to me as if many have champagne tastes on seemingly water budgets. This hotel was comfortable, spacious and had a wonderful cafe attached. They are pet friendly and filled the requests we had quickly and with a smile. Even though they allow smoking in the hotel, our room was a non smoking room and you couldn't tell they allowed smoking in the facilities. For what we paid, this hotel exceeded my expectations. Our room was clean from the sheets through the towels, sure some things were a little dated but still operated perfectly. The bathroom was clean, although it is apparent that Gillette has hard water, as there was some minor mineral deposits in the tub drain catch. The two sinks were clean and had beautiful new faucets on them, immediate hot water and great counter space. The room had two queen beds, a table for eating and a computer desk, free WIFI and a nice flat screen TV. The hotel was quiet although it was busy the entire time we were there. So for those of you who read some of the negative reviews, I personally would suggest you give this place a try. I have paid at least two times as much for a room in some of the better known hotel chains and honestly didn't get anything better than what I received here at the National 9 in Gillette. Thanks to the staff and owners of the National 9 in Gillette for providing our family group (many families arriving to Gillette for a funeral) wonderful accommodations during our stay. It was nice to know our family members were able to stay in the same hotel and we didn't have to worry about where to book, nor did we have to worry about finding a good place to eat, because the Cafe was right there and served wonderful food. Next time we are through Gillette, we have no doubts about where to stay.

We drove around trying to find an affordable hotel with some amenities, and came across this hotel after stopping at about a half dozen, that were overpriced. This hotel had oversized rooms with 2 queen beds, so was very confortable with our family. They had an awesome cafe with home cookin and very good & affordable, which helps a traveling family. The service at the front desk was great, as we had several special requests, that were handled very quickly. We will definitely stay again, if we ever go through Gillette, Wyoming.

Very pleased to find a place on the road that still beleives in family values. Service was great from start to finish, upon checkin i was informed of their cafe and lounge. After getting settled in, I had an amazing prime rib dinner that did not cost an arm and leg to get. As i was leaving i decided to stop down for a night cap, and ran onto a Karaoke show with some real fun folks, great fun, great service. Look forward to my next trip.

I didn't like one thing about this little nasty hotel that was suppose to be like the Ramada I would not tell my worst enemy to stay at it or use the hotwire service I used to get stuck in this I would rate this a half star you can get alot better hotels for the price

Place was basically an overpriced dump. Curtain rods were broken. Windows were soaking wet on the inside. No toilet paper holder in bathroom, so toilet paper just sat on the top of the toilet. There were no clothes hangers in the room. Thermostat did not work for electric baseboard heat, so no heat in room on a night that was below 40 degrees outside. Amenities were one tube of shampoo/conditioner for room that cost $90.00. Not even a coffee maker in the room and no free breakfast. Parking lot needs re-paving so it is dirty and muddy, which carries onto the carpet in the halls, which were also covered with cigarette ashes. They do have non-smoking rooms. But they are intermingled with smoking rooms. So lobby and halls smell of cigarette smoke. Positives were free internet service with excellent connection and there was coffee, hot cider, cocoa and tea available in the lobby. Place was sold out, so I guess management doesn't need to care.

The staff at the National 9 really saved me after a confirmed reservation at another motel was botched. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The furnishings were a little older but I wasn't expecting a Marriot. The staff was helpful in getting my travel plans squared away the next morning and the restaurant next door was great. I would have no problem recommending this motel to my family and friends, I know I will return next time.
