Motel 6 Torrington, Torrington

The Days Inn website never mentioned the motel closes at 10 p.m., as you may guess what our reaction was when we drove up to the motel at 10:30 p.m. After dialing the number, that was paste on the door, we waited almost 15-20 minutes before anyone came to the front desk and opened the door to let us in. The motel clerk was not in a good mood that we woke her up at such a unforgiving hour. Next time I'll try staying another motel. Walls must be paper thin and the hallway carpet sure could use a good cleaning.

We went to Torrington for a funeral and the "Days Inn" in Torrington was advertised to have a heated pool & hot tub which was important as we had children with us. Upon check in we noticed hallways had no heat and smelled of smoke. I found a thermostat & turned it on. Rooms were also without heat so we turned heat on in the adjoining rooms we paid for, left our luggage and went to visit with friends. Several hours later when the other half of our party arrived in town we returned to our rooms. It was at this time we opened the drapes to get a little light and in one room saw something on the floor that turned out to be a Copenhagen pouch that had already been chewed. When I picked it up I could see that not only had the carpet not been vacuumed and was filthy but where the carpent joined the linoleum it was shredded and falling apart. The complimentary coffee pots in both rooms had old coffee stains in them and one of the bathroom towels had a hole in it. The floor around the toilet was filthy and could not have been cleaned in months. The wall behind the bathroom door had browns streaks running down. There were several places where the wall paper had separated and was falling off. The TV in one room did not have a remote. The drapes in one room were hanging down in the middle and when we tried to rehang them properly found there were no hooks. The double paned window had a huge crack in it with several holes. Condensation dripped off the window and pooled onto the heater below. All of this was bad enough but when we took the children down to the heated swimming pool we found that it was not heated and did not smell clean. The only lights were a few dim lights on the wall. The hot tub did not even have water in it. We asked in staff could turn the lights on in a room adjoining the pool area so we could sit and use the tables. It took several staff people to finally find the light switch which was behind one of the game machines. When the lights turned on we found the tables had food on them and asked the bartender to clean them. She apoligized, was very polite and even offered us complimentary drinks. We asked about the water temperature in the pool and she sent a gentleman to talk to us about it. He said it was state law that the pool temperature could not be above 76 degrees and said that because it was a holiday they had been cleaning the hot tub and did not have it full. We told him that body temperature was 98 degrees and that the water should at least be that temperature. When we told him the pool was one of the main reason we chose Days Inn he was very rude and said he had given us a special rate because it was Thanksgiving and we shouldn't complain. It was then one of the people in our party told him that the rooms were dirty anyway and she wanted a refund so she could go elsewhere. He told her to go and did refund the money for one room. He would not give us a refund on the other room because he said were had used the room for 3 hours (because we left our luggage there) and yelled at us and said they were not a church and in the business of giving charity. We had not choice but to stay the night but checked into the Holiday Inn the next day. They guarantee your stay will be pleasant. We had reports of many people leaving this place for the same reason and even said they got shocked when they got into the swimming pool. I took pictures of most of these things and was going to report it to the "Days Inn" chain but their website says they do not have a Days Inn in Torrington so I am thinking it may no longer be part of that chain. I guess a person gets what they pay for so I will not try to be so cheap next time. Peggy Gibson Billings, Montana

I am at the end of day 9 of an 11 day trip with several other people and wanted to relax and unwind. We knew going in that this place had bad reviews but someone at the hotel said that now the hotel was under new management and they were trying to make up for their bad ratings. Well, they are failing. The television in my room is not working. Ok, change that, I finally got someone to come to my room, jiggle the wire and now it kinda works. The entire down stairs smells like someone urinated in a jar of peanut butter, used it for an ashtray, stuck it in a microwave for 10 minutes, and dumped the contents in the hallway. One of my tour members complained because the heat was on full blast and the room was like an oven. The hotel maintenance guy was pulled from the karaoke lounge, went to the room, told the guest that the heat was just fine. My friend, understandably, got upset and had a few words. The maintenance guy proceeds to tell the tour manager that the guest was being rude to him. Well, hell, my TV just went out again... To get it to work, I have to pull it out to the point that I am worried that it may fall out of the entertainment center. And another thing, I was downstairs waiting for a friend. The girl at the front desk, who I originally assumed to be friendly, kept questioning why I was down there. She thought I was waiting for her. I explained that I was fine. She ignored this and said, "You'll have to be patient, I can't be everywhere at once". Huh? I explained again that I was waiting for my friends to play Scrabble. "Well, they're not down here." So, I went back to my room to see if I could find any of my Scrabble buddies and then went back downstairs. I met the same employee in the stairway who said, "What do you need." "NOTHING!!!" It's as if she was saying, "Why are you out of your room?" Well, my Scrabble friends decided to go to bed because the lobby stinks and the hot tub was empty. Oh, the pool/hottub area smells even worse than the lobby. I am going to have a discussion with my tour director about getting at least a partial refund. Instead of relaxing in front of the TV before I go to sleep, I am pissed off at the rudeness and squallor of this rathole of a hotel. This is hands down the worst place I have ever stayed. GOOD LUCK ON IMPROVING YOUR RATINGS! I can't wait to get out of here. If It wasn't almost midnight and I was on a bus tour, I'd try to go to the Holiday Inn.

Although the hotel was under construction and you could tell, the staff at the hotel desk was extreamly helpful and the bartender was especialy helpful with our meal tickets and making sure that everything was satisfactory during our stay. I will return just to see how the progrss on the building and see the frindly staff on our way back home.

We stayed there for a funeral. The place was under construction, the pool was closed, which would have been nice to know at booking. We were able to book online, but I have to say that the service at the desk once we checked in was dismal. The room seemed clean, but the hallways were not. The housekeeping staff on the second day of the stay made up for some of the uncaring attitude we received at check-in. At least they tried, and that rather quickly. Some towels did not seem too clean, and some were torn. All in all, it was a place to stay, considering we don't know the area; should we have to go to the area again, we will look for a different place to stay.

The hallway smelled like a dirty bathroom. We got to our room and the bathtub was leaking (full force running) the air conditioner was covered in fuzzy dust (like a years worth) and there was mold/mildew around the windows. Total health issues happening in this place. It should be condemned. The only front desk staff they had were in training and there was noone there training them and they had friends in the lobby visiting them. Customer service was horrible. The worst part about it is they didn't act surprised when we wanted to check out. I recommend staying at the Holiday Inn. They have friendly staff, nice rooms and great breakfast.

I stayed at this hotel for a family reunion. I tried to book online thru the Kings Inn website but there wasn't anywhere to book, so I called my reservation in. I printed out the rates just to make sure I was charged correctly. When I checked in, I was charged more for the rooms than the printout, and was told it was because those were King's Inn rates & they were now Day's Inn, yet all their receipts and paperwork had King's Inn printed on them. I had to ask for new sheets on my bed the first night because the sheets were COVERED w/hair-human and pet hair. The floor in my room was covered in pet hair, and the bathtub had human & pet hair covering the bottom. The next day the sewer backed up into my bathtub. The third night I had to ask for towels because my towels were never replaced as the cleaners took them. The 2 gals I dealt with a the front desk did not care about the service they gave, nor did the night desk clerk care about the hair in my bed or the fact I had to ask for towels for my room. I will make sure to tell everyone I know NOT to stay at a Days Inn as they obviously do not care about service & cleanliness, only about overcharging their customers for crappy rooms and service.

This is a qualified review, because I didn't actually stay there--after checking in, I spent about 15 minutes there before I checked back out! I made reservations by phone and asked if they had wireless internet. The staff said, "uhhhh, I don't know," and didn't bother to find out. That should have been a clue as to what was waiting. Upon arriving, I found that travel modifications I had made to my reservation were not actually put into the computer when I called. Then, the odor in the hallway walking to my room was almost overpowering. Finally, the room...the TV was tiny and about 30 years old, the fire alarm was missing, chairs and walls were stained, cracks in the wall and window, the thermostat on the heating unit didn't work, and it was unclean--for starts, there were hairs on the bed sheets! Go across the street, keep driving, or sleep in your car before staying there!

The service was awful. It seemed to me that the Bartenders and cocktail waitresses were more into getting a boyfriend for the night rather than serving the customer. The waitress during the day was slow and seemed to be more interested in flirting with my husband. The food was undercooked and a few time's the cook came out of the kitchen. He seemed like he was unclean. The rooms were awful and it seemed loud there. I was told by locals that The motel was housing work crews from Alabama and Texas. The employee's seemed to be more interested in them rather than the rest of the customers who were their for a short period. At one point I had seen a Bar Maid leave the Lounge for a while with a man for about five minutes. During that time I noticed a female walk behind the bar and retrieve a bottle. As for me and my husband we well not be returning to that hotel. I do hope managment takes the time to look at there employee's and make sure they know who they have working for them.

No carpets in the hallway, Pool was green & smelled terrible. Air conditioners did not work. Bar personell was very rude, resteraunt did not have food. Construction started early in the morning, very noisy. Trash all over. Overall a bad experience
