18 reviews for The Lodge at Geneva Ridge, Lake Geneva
Great time, Great service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/09
My wife and I were looking for a romantic getaway near Lake Geneva. We wanted to be close to downtown to see the Venetian Festival, but didn't want to stay among the large crowds. We elected to stay at The Lodge at Geneva Ridge. The recent renovation successfully updated all facets of the resort. The room was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable. We booked a package, and were well satisfied with the value. All resort personnel were friendly and attentive. The buffet brunch on Sunday was excellent, and did not require an upgrade of the "package" meal. We ate 4 times at the Lakeside and once at the pool, the food and presentation were extremely good. We used the tennis courts and exercise room, both were in good working order. The pools were clean and busy, we didn't use them but the folks who did appeared to be enjoying them. There is a cool firepit near the outdoor pool, we sat sharing stories with other guests until late Saturday. It looks to us like the negatives described in other reviews have been successfully addressed. I would recommend for a romantic getaway, a stay away from downtown, perhaps a convention.

Great room!
By Nancy D, 11/03/08
I needed a room quick, so I drove up on a Sunday night and walked right in. They had plenty of rooms available and I got a great rate. The room was wonderful, totally renovated. Beautiful bathroom with Bath & Body soaps and lotion. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The front desk staff was very nice. I'd stay there again in a minute!

Worst and we will never go back!
By Becky, 08/25/08
The Bride booked her hair to be done saturday, plus the 4 brides maids. They had no record of her calling nor did they have her on the books. Meagan asked who she talked to and the bride said Meagan. Meagan says oh yea I remember talking to you. DAH!. Needless to say the bride got her hair done. The 4 girls had there hair pulled in side ponytails, but had to supply there own hair ties. The bride was charged full price on all the dues. They only had one hair stylist on call. They managed to get back to there rooms at 230 and wedding started at 4. Everyone was charged $179 ahead of time for there rooms. Than when we get there they charge you an extra 9.00 dollars for shuttle service, internet, pools in and out door, plus taxes on all that stuff. Who had time for it. We needed the shuttle service and no where to be found. Staff is rude. Only one mirror in the bath room. Coffee maker is in the bathroom also. Doesn't that just sound nummy. So if you have more than one person in your motel room it takes forever to get ready. It should have been a beautiful stressfree morning and the bride was in tears.

Don't waste your time or money....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/08
The lack of cars in the parking lot should have been our first clue.... I held a small b'day party at their restaurant on 7/30/08 (peak vacation time), and was about as underwhelmed as I/we could possibly be.There was only one waitress for the entire dining room (the reason why became obvious to us since at peak dinner time there were only 2 other tables filled and no other patrons showed up the rest of the evening). The juke box in the bar was louder than the piped in music in the dining room--that was irritating. Kereoke started up as we were served dessert--even more distracting and irritating. I ordered the sea scallop appetizer--one of the pricier items and it came with 4 scallops (about the size of a quarter each) in a BIG high sided bowl with several teaspoons of an uninspired tomato garlic broth "sauce". No garnish, no nothing. The presentation was about as thoughtless as it could be. We also got a shrimp cocktail--$9.95, for 5 medium shrimp on mixed lettuce with jarred cocktail sauce in a plastic dish in the middle. I can get a bag of medium shrimp - the same size - at Sam's Club for about $12--$13. I will say, although skimpy on the serving size, their fried onion rings were good. The entrees were no more noteworthy. My duck was so tough, that you could floss as you chewed. Their duck "sauce" tasted like very diluted orange juice thickened with corn starch. Zero flavor. The shrimp with pasta was minimal--the better part of his dinner was left unfinished in the bowl. The cheese burger was VERY good. The ribs and chicken special were no big deal--tasted like bottled sauce on the meat. The desserts were no big deal either. The key lime pie was doughy, and drizzled with a very strange and unappealing lime sauce. The lemon cake was just okay, and no comment was made about the chocolate cake either way. So, save your money and don't bother with this place. It's minimal at best.

Where did all the Renovation $$$$ go???
By S. P, 07/06/08
We arrived to a hotel that brags all over its website about 100 million dollar renovations --- just to see the hotel in the same shape as it was when my family and I stayed here in the late 1970s. The only thing that was updated was the room wallpaper and the cheap LCD TVs. There are no channel listings, no HBO and no DVD viewing instructions that only one person on staff knew how to work. The tennis court, which is the first amenity that can be seen at the entrance had trees and grass growing inside the tennis court. The indoor pool was EXACTLY the same as when I was 8 years old (I'm 36 now). The ONE restaurant in the hotel thought we would be ok paying $40 for bacon and eggs for breakfast. Not to mention that we did not get any sleep on our final night because a fellow guest 2 doors down could not get into his room. The hotel's newly renovated Master Key did not work, so the Lake Geneva Fire Department and two ambulances came to break down the door at 2am. Be aware that if you pay by debit card, they charge your card an additional 2 night's stay that will not be refunded for serveral days after check-out. There were NO renovations in this hotel, I have the pictures from 1979, 1986 and from 1997 to prove it! No wonder they were the ONLY hotel in Lake Geneva with a Vacancy on the Fourth of July!

love the new look
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/06/08
I love how they renovated the lodge, they did a great job. The rooms are wonderful, all updated. The proporty is great, very relaxing!! It's just far enough from town, more quiet, and yet only a few minutes drive. The spa is great, full service.

Think twice about getting married here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/07
We have an up and coming wedding which is SUPPOSED to be at this resort. It was closed last Sept to begin rennovations and was due to open in the Spring of 07. YEAH RIGHT. This company must be having some financial issues, because it is mid July and they are not even close to opening up. Everything is torn up and it is a disaster area. Everything that was promised to be done most likely will not be done...who the heck knows where our wedding reception will be or where our guests will be staying. They started construction about 1 mth ago. As far as I am concerned they should have been honest about their ISSUES and given people the choice to have our reception elsewhere. Everything is an unorganized nightmare! BEWARE

We sure liked it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/06
My son (24) and I spent 4 days at the Interlaken; our first experience there. we noticed right away that it was a 70's styled resort (actually formerly a Holiday Inn). At the restaurant we were told that the entire resort would be renovated in September 2006. Even though the place is well worn, I didn't think that it was much to complain about. The indoor pool was nice, and the outdoor pool was very nice. I can't see why there are so many complaints. Our room overlooked the outdoor pool and was close to the spa and other amenities; sauna, steam room (unfortunately closed during our visit). Food - I must say that for those who are complaining about the food....it was chef prepared, very attractively presented, and very good. They may have fired the chef that others had in these reviews. The prices were average to a little high, but the servers were polite and friendly and very efficient. We were very satisfied with the stay for 71.00 a night (AARP). If we had paid 120-140 a night by booking through their reservation service rather than online, I probably would have been disappointed. But, I felt it was worth the money, our room was nice, the food was very good, the service was good, and it was a very good experience overall. It's also located a few minutes from downtown, and has a wonderful view of lake Como. I recommended this hotel to my friends, and don't think they'll be disatisfied.

Fun Family Get Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/06
We love taking the kids for even just a two days and a night. They love the indoor pool and the staff is very kid friendly. We try to get to the resort as often as possible and we love to get a lakeside room so we can just open the screen door to be outside.

Better than Expected but Needs to be Remodeled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/05
I was apprehensive to stay at Interlaken given all the negative reviews. I was happy though that it wasn't as horrible an experience that I thought it would be. The hotel though does need to be renovated. The room's heater was so loud and it was annoying that the room heated up very fast but then when you shut it off, the room became frigid. Overall, the hotel was nicer than I expected it to be. My family and I went to the Thanksgiving dinner and that was ok. The hotel definitely needs to be remodeled. The room felt like something out of the '70s or '80s.
