Grand Geneva Resort and Spa, Lake Geneva

We stayed here about 2 weeks ago. It was just an overnight trip to enjoy the spa and some great meals. We have been staying at the Grand Geneva for years now, and everytime we come here, we are reminded why. The staff and management go above and beyond to make your stay special and will accomodate most of your requests. The spa is amazing and the restaurants are fantastic. You dont have to leave the resort, everything you need is right there for you. We will definitely continue to make the Grand Geneva our go to place anything we are in Lake Geneva.

I stay here during Aug, 2010. I was disappointed with room I placed in. I had wanted a room with a view of their little lake, but on arrival my room type wasn’t available. I was upgrade to a suite but view was of the parking lot. I walked out on to the balcony but it was over grown with grass and cigarette butts. Not to mention the place is a maze to get around in! I walked for what seemed forever before I found my room. I also had a day at the spa located on the property. I had a massage, pedi and manicure done. The service received at the spa was wonderful and I left the spa falling rested and rejuvenated. I highly recommend the spa.

We went there for my daughter's bachelorette party. Rooms we decent if you weren't exhausted from the walk to them. Beds were very unconfortable. Food was nothing to write home about. We had 11 in our party with half of us going to the spa for some relaxation. The spa, if you want to call it that, was a joke. Looked more like a unorganized locker room. Tranquil room was a large cafeteria. Nothing tranquil about it. Now, the service. Almost all of our party that had manicures and or pedicures were very, very, very dissapointed. The work was shabby at best. The light on my mani table broke and hit me in the arm. The tech stated that she could work without it. I said, no, you can"t and you wont. The job she did on my nails and toes was just awful with a light. Cant imagine what it would have looked like without one. Toes, just dont know what went on there. Worse pedicure I have ever had. The cost for this disaster, $115.00. So my advice, STAY AWAY.

My family has been going there sense i was 6 months old! I i feel so at home and blessed to be able to go there so much during the year. Its great for families and couples.

The resort was an incredible disappointment. Let me start with the good things about this resort: - For the most part, the staff was friendly. - Restaurants at the resort were decent. The negatives: - We had to wait in long lines to check in / check out / ask any question at the front desk - Calls to the front desk were either not answered at all (twice during our stay) or our requests were forgotten / ignored (twice during our stay). - There was disgusting garbage in the halls (for example, used band-aids). - Rooms were cleaned very late in the day / evening. I had to roam the halls and track down a maid every day that we stayed to get fresh towels. We tried calling the desk to request towels but these requests were ignored. - After rooms were cleaned, things such as coffee were not restocked. Overall, the hotel itself was below average with an above-average price tag.

Went there for my 10th anniversary. One night cost me $1200!!! The room and 1 massage for each of us was $518.00 plus taxes, tips and resort fees. They charged me $250 for smoking in the room- we don't smoke, but try to prove it! We ordered champagne and chocolates, they delivered it twice by mistake and charged us $98 for each time. The chocolates were ferro rocher(which cost $2.00 for 4 at Walgreens) and the champaign was freixenet which is a $10.00 bottle. The Brissago restaurant had fantastic waiters, but the meal was $98.00 for a veal chop and an stale dry sirloin. Then, after we had tipped the massage therapists they tacked another $20.00 for gratuity even though we tipped in cash. OMG! If I knew it was going to cost $1200 I would have taken the kids to their timber ridge resort next door for 5 days! I cannot believe they charged me for $250.00 for smoking. If I would have known they were going to charge me $250 for smoking, I would have at least bought a big fat cigar and smoked it - just for the hell of it!!! We go to Timber Ridge next door several times a year, I will never- never- never go back to this resort. So sad!!!

I have read previous emails and some of the statements are correct. Grand Geneva is not near the lake but if the person would have done his/her homework they would have known that...by the way, who goes to a resort and really wants to be somewhere else? All of the resort rooms were just remodeled and they are beautiful. Try to reserve a room overlooking the golf course. Don't worry you will not be directly on the course but in fact you'll be eighty feet above looking over the landscape and a very large lake. As far as service is concerned there is no better than the Grand Geneva staff. From the time you set out of your car until the time you leave the complex, you will be treated like a king/queen. The spa complex just had a major renovation and although I never used the facility, other guests commented how fantastic it was. If you want to relax and be pampered or go for a couple rounds of golf, Grand Geneva is the place.

They quote you a price but then add on $12 for 2 bottles of water (didn't want, didn't need), internet access (didn't bring a computer), paper (had the same paper waiting for me at home), valet parking (couldn't use because I couldn't even get near the hotel) and local phone (who uses the phone in their hotel room these days?). I even got charged another $4 misc fee for the irish dance competition. They say they do this so they don't nickel & dime you but that is exactly what they do. If you are required to pay this, it should be quoted in the room rate.

I've stayed at Grand Geneva about 10 times over the past 7 years. Mostly for 4th of July, New Year's, Valentine's Day type holidays. I feel like Grand Gevena used to be so much more until it changed it's management company. The service used to be a lot friendlier and accomodating than it has become in the last few years. The hotel does seem like it has gone down in its "upscale" factor although they charge the same exact prices. When I stayed at the hotel several years ago, each and every need that we had was taken care of. Today it's a hit or miss. You can come and either really enjoy your experience or it can be a complete disaster. I've had both while staying there. However, if you do have a bad experience, you will be taken care of as far as being compensated for a bad room or a bad experience. You just have to approach the hotel's management if you are dissatisfied with something. The last time I was there, I had a bad experience because they had a room mix up, but they ended up giving us a $249/night room practically for free. The restaurants are wonderful, although they are not cheap. The service and food at the ChopHouse and Brissago were great each and every time we've stayed there. I do recommend the Jr. Suites the most, because they are the coziest, and I do recommend booking your room WAAAAY ahead of your travel date because the KING and LAKEVIEW rooms are only a "request" not a reservation. The resort is definitely NOT cheap. But more times than not, I enjoyed my stay and it was worth for the money paid.

we spent the weekend (along with family & friends) for our daughter's wedding. it was first class all the way. the grand was a spectacular resort. they went out of their way to make it a awesome event. food & amenities were excellent. the views are amazing. highly recommend this and can't wait to go back. downtown lake geneva is close by to boot! to all the negative reviewers: why? unless you people get it free or ultra cheap you think you are being ripped off. your loss is our gain. true, this resort was built long ago but they are actively updating all of it on a regular basis. if you love to see christmas decorations, pay a visit during the holidays! makes you feel like a kid again! thank you grand geneva for making our daughter & new son-in-law's wedding weekend a unforgetable experience!
