will not go back
By Jane, 5/23/12
Rooms were fine. I sat at the head table for a convention and there was food from the meals before still on the table. The table cloths were SO wrinkled on all tables during the entire convention!!! So tacky!! The white cloths were stained. We had the same vegetables for three meals. the piece of chicken, for lunch, was processed. The steak, for dinner, was small and tough, the twice baked potatoes were way over baked and dry. The salad was sad. Needless to say, I won't go back.

WAY NICER THAN THE PICS VERY PLEASED
By M, 5/19/11
I was VERY pleasently surprised expected a hotel in ok condition that needed work. I got a VERY NICELY RENIVATED HOTEL!!! i am slighly hotel phobic i never felt they were clean enough this was one of the first hotels I FELT LIKE I COULD TAKE MY SHOES OFF AND RELAX. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. granite counter tops tiled showers. The beds were comforable newer clean sheets and comforters. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT!!! Breakfast Buffet was Full Buffett in a nice dinning room. The Pictures on the wed sight really don't show the updates and improvements that were made!! My only con or could be a pro it was close to the hwy but I knew that. The pictures of the Wyndom (next door) are more on par with what this hotel looks like. Oh forgot to mention the pool atrium!! VERY NICE my kids enjoyed it. The hotel was great for my family. And i did see alot of business people there too. I WOULD MOST DEFINATELY STAY HERE AGAIN. A++++ RAMADA SOUTH. We were VERY PLEASED!!! The lady at the desk said when i made my reservation were the "orginal and were the best." She was right!!!

Not very clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/11
It was not very clean, there were drunks in the lobby and when I turned down the covers there was a spider in the bed! It was an awful evening after a canceled flight.

Great for the business and the family
By Rob Smith, 3/9/11
I had business in the area and since it was close to the weekend, decided to bring the wife and kids for a mini-holiday. The business center god send. It saved my ass right when I'm in the middle of an important business deal. The swimming pool, cable tv, complimentary wireless internet and the hotel's proximity to the shops kept the wife and kids preoccupied while I'm busy with work.

Never will use their services again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/10
First the food was great, but many little things were not completed for my daughter's wedding reception. The service was poor. Had to ask for the table to be cleaned after our meal, lights to be dimmed, candles to be lit, ask for ice for the hot pop, water in the glasses for the sweatheart table, plates for the cake table, punch was not mixed and was hot and the food was to be served at 5:30 and I had to ask where the food was at at 5:50. And also the decoration a had made and some purchased were not put on the buffett tables I went to the Ramada and paid the 20% gratuity so that I could sit down and enjoy the evening with my daughter. Well that did not happen because for the first hour and a half I was making sure that everything was in place. I would not recommend their catering services to anyone.

Immaculate Rooms-Very Clean-New Remodeled
By Judy, 2/15/10
Very nice 2 room suite, staff was very accommodating. Dinner buffett was very good. Enjoyed Comedy Zone show. However, the DJ was not encouraging, he only played music (no interaction) Bar service was slow, only 1 bartender foe 2 sold out showes on Valentines weekend. Breakfast could be better. Overall, we had lots of fun and plan on returning.

The last time I ever stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/09
First of all our air/heat unit didn't turn on...they couldn't fix it...the window didn't open, so our room was muggy! We had planned my aunt's 60th for months and was told we could have a block of rooms at a discounted rate...this did not happen! They booked people in the middle of our rooms and had us all over the 3rd floor...the manager Tom was very rude and big headed! Out of the 20 people that stayed there none of us were happy! Our family plans many events and the Ramada of South Charleston will never be our choice for the them! Oh yeah they are remodeling so the hotel was dusty and dirty! The only good thing I can say is when I checked in the two younger gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful and nice, but night manager sucks to no end!! Also, he told my friends that they don't just let any crack whores off the streets come in their hotel when they came to visit us. Manager, Tom, pulled me aside and talked to me like a little child. I was talking to another person who had attended a wedding there the night before and told him I wouldn't bring a whore here! He agreed! This place needs to seriously be reviewed and they need to get rid of the problems! TOM!!!!

Rooms are nasty...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/08
Made reservations for Labor Day weekend. We were given a room on the first floor. The room smelled terrible and was damp. The AC did not work properly. Fortunately, we walked next door to the Wingate and found a clean and exceptionally nice room and moved our reservations to the Wingate.

New Renovations, Great Breakfast Buffet, Nice Pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/08
I'm from charleston, and some of our family stayed here recentl for a family reunion. They loved it. In the Charleston Area this is one of the best hotels to stay at. There are a couple of other nice ones: The Marriot, Embassy Suites...but comparatively they are overpriced. The Ramada has a wonderful HOT breakfast buffet served every morning. The hotel has recently gone through renovations and the decor throughout was really nice. The rooms were clean and nice. Not too fancy...but nice. The beds were really comfortable too. The pool and hottub areas are beautiful, a real step away from your usual hotel pool....there are lots of plants used as decorations, and it just feels comfortable. The meeting facilities and banquet rooms are nice too. As a person from Charleston, I would recommend that any of my friends and family stay at the Ramada anytime.

TRAINS GO BY DURING NIGHT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/08
OVERALL IT WAS NOT BAD,THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND PEOPLE WERE NICE. THE HOTEL HAD A DECENT BUFFET BREAKFAST AND GREAT HOT TUB/POOL AREA. WE STAYED 4 NIGHTS AND DID NOT GET ANY SLEEP. TRAIN TRACKS ARE BEHIND THE HOTEL AND AFTER WAKING AT 3:00 AM TO THE LOUD ROAR OF THE TRAINS WE KNEW IT WAS NOT A GOOD SIGN. EVERY NIGHT THE TRAINS CAME AROUND 3:00 AM, IN ADDDTION TO VARIOUS OTHER TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND NIGHT. WILL NOT STAY THERES AGAIN AS IT WAS NOT A RESTFUL VACATION. IF YOU CAN IGNORE THE TRAINS THEN YOU WILL BE FINE, BUT IF YOU WANT TO GET SOME SLEEP AT THE END OF YOUR BUSY DAY THEN DO NOT STAY THERE.
