Would not recommend

The only positive thing I can say about this Travelodge was its location. Check-in time is 4pm. We arrived at 4:10 and had to wait a 1/2 hour for our room to be ready. The shower did not drain, the safe in the room did not work, and the hallways were dirty and carpets very stained. We had to go to the front desk to request toilet paper because housekeeping did not leave enough .Water temperatures in the shower varied to extremes, potentially dangerous especially for a small child. When I brought my concerns to staff, I was told that they would take $50 off my 4 night stay. She repeatedly told me that she didn't even have to do that, basically implying that I should be grateful. I would not recommend this hotel: dirty, bad odors, bad service.

Low class
By ,
Smelly hallways, obnoxious clientele, grossly overpriced because of location and no competition. If you can travel just a little bit further you will get a lot more for your hard-earned $$. Not a fun experience.

Not a family friendly place
By ,
My family needed a place to stay while our son was to have surgery, travelodge offered a reasonable price. We requested a Ground level room and a crib, when we arrived we were told that our room was upstairs. After inspecting the room there was no crib, the bathroom had rust stains on the walls, the light was burned out, cobwebs in the corners, and peeling wallpaper. We asked about getting a crib, after a long wait we called the front desk and were told that 2 of the 3 cribs were in use the third was missing. Our son slept in his stroller for a few hours. after a long wait we went to the front desk, the manager had just arrived after buying a new crib. We were pleased that they had gone through the effort however our pleasure was gone once we asked the manager about it she said "Now don't you feel stupid?". It took a while to set the crib up and the mattress was thin and our son slept poorly. through the night drunken people arived and made some loud noises keeping us awake. we will never stay there again.

Gross!
Bathroom scary, sheets had holes, ducks in the swimming pool, room smelled manky- hallways even worse. Day staff grumpy, night staff helpful. Yuck! Stay here only if you are totally desperate. Excellent location!

Only if emergency

Beds were poor. Pillows paper thin. I guess this was my leading disatisfaction. However, the carpet questionable, Front desk area smelled of yesterday's cigarette and the rooms were noisy. But.... bathroom clean!

Wish I had read the reviews
By ,
The only good thing about the place was the University Village was withing walking distance, about a mile from the University the shower had adequate pressure and hot water, wireless internet, and the abundance of channels on TV. I agree with the others that the place smelled old and musty and although our room was designated as nonsmoking, I could still tell it used to be a smoking room. Part of our carpet was wet, the heating unit only blew out cold air. The shower tiles needed some scrubbing and I was afraid to step directly onto the floor of the shower. The front desk staff was not friendly and not helpful when we asked for assistance in obtaining the Sea-Tac airport phone number. Overall I would not stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Tepid
By ,
Spent two nights in Feb.. A very convenient location for the UW campus. Had next to no hot water for shower the first AM. Notified the desk, who said they would take care of it, and had the same experience the next AM. The desk said they "thought it had been fixed". But made no apology or offer of compensation. The thermostat was also difficult to adjust to maintain a consistant temperature in the room. Otherwise, the room was adequate. But no hot shower in the morning.... can't tolerate that. Would not return or recommend.

The location and price fit our needs at first
By ,
But when we came back to the room on and found the floor littered with glass, we knew it wasn't all that great. For a one-star hotel, the cleanliness of the room was about what you'd expect. TV was still in the room, so I guess that's a plus. The walls are rice-paper thin, so you can hear the conversations of others down the hall. We didn't hear about a continental breakfast until we checked out, so that's not anything I can comment about. We've heard from others living in Seattle that this particular hotel is not very well thought of in the area. I would not recommend it to anyone. Probably would have given it two stars had it not been for the response of the night shift's response to our break-in issues. Spend a few more dollars and go up the street about 100 yards.

value and friendliness
By ,
We had two rooms at the University Travelodge recently and can recommend this location for anyone looking for a no-frills, comfortable place to stay. While the facility has clearly been around for many years, and the hot-tub was not functioning when we were there, the general upkeep was fine. The rooms were clean, the continental breakfast typical, with newspapers available at the desk in the morning. The pool area was clean and attractive - we only wish it had been available in the morning at breakfast time. The staff was friendly and helpful - when items needed attention in the rooms , they saw to it that things were taken care of. They were clearly overworked, but managed to maintain a good sense of humor which made it a plesant place to stay.
