May go back when I'm 80.
By Marie, 8/8/08
My husband and I just returned from a trip to Williamsburg. The Lodge is a great location for visiting Colonial Williamsburg. Our room was great, but we felt like we were in a funeral home instead of a motel. Even when you walked into the lounge, it seemed everyone was whispering. One bartender was great, don't know his name, but one young lady working behind the bar in the lounge, should be working in some other job, she was rude and it seemed to bother her to even answer a question. The new menu in the lounge should have been kept for the restaurant, not a lounge. Who wants duck with their beer.

Probably would stay in another hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/08
I feel the same as the last review. The floors were horrible. I understand the were trying to set a tone but really over did it. The staff at the desk were rude!!!!!! The lady that had "hospitality" engraved on her tag stood and ignored me when I was asking her a question. Suddenly we were invisible after we told her that our room was nice but the thermostate was set at a cool 56 degrees when we arrived. The staff never did let us know anything about Colonial Williamsburg. I was really looking forward to this trip and was really disappointed.

Don't Recommnend
By deb, 5/24/08
Every single board in the floor squeaked so bad it was embarrassing walking across it at night thinking of the poor people downstairs. Walls are paperthin - if the person in the next room sneezes you wonder if they are in bed with you. Bed is tiny and hard and has only one wool blanket so you are drenched in sweat or cold. No fridge, microwave, snacks, not even a remote for the old television set. No place to put your luggage. Staff is nice but don't seem to know what each other is doing. Front desk said we had a ten percent discount at the spa, but spa said they had no idea what front desk was talking about. Front desk assigned us a room, room was not ready but we left our stuff in it, then we went back an hour later and it had been reassigned. Front desk said they didn't know WHY we put our stuff in it when we should have had the room down the hall. The number of the first room was printed on our envelope! It is now our first morning here and I don't want to pay the nine dollars for a piece of toast with jelly for room service so I need to go off and find a place to eat. I went to college here and always thought the Lodge was just a step from heaven, but now I am sore (from trying to balance on the edge of a double bed all night) and tired and hungry and just want a real hotel!

better than the williamsburg inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/07
we have stayed at both the inn and lodge almost next door to each other and we preferred the inn, its friendly ,lovely atmosphere and ideal for the the historical town and nowhere near as exspensive our visit was DEC 5th 2007. If you go make sure you try the seafood buffet on a friday absolutely lovely

Great Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/5/07
This place is pricey but excellent. We have been there twice in the month and have had the best time. Everyone in the staff has been extremely helpful and nice. The rooms are very clean.
