Awful Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/09
Wish my husband has read these reviews before booking here as I agree with others that the place has seen better days. "Garden" room was dirty, dingy, very tired. More like an old roadside motel. So called "garden" view was a concrete walkway outside the door and an open field with view of large shed. Room was dark, bath fixtures rusty, towels thread-bare and frayed. Didn't clean room one day and since the front desk closes at 6 it was very hard to find someone to bring us clean towels (& when she did she was not too happy about it.) Certainly not worth the money paid. Avoid this place & stay at Mimslyn Inn a few miles away in Luray.

Nightmare Wedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/01/09
We wanted a simple intimate wedding for just the two of us - no guests. I made several phone calls before with the so-called wedding coordinator. Based on our phone conversations she had all the details correct. We checked in Tuesday and our service was to be the following Wednesday. Upon checking in we were informed it was the wedding coordinators day off. Wednesday morning we checked with the front desk and found out that the coordinator was to be in at 12:00; our wedding was to be at 1:00. The first time we met the wedding coordinator was 30 minutes AFTER our wedding was suppose to start. The wedding coordinator had suggest we get ready in separate areas and offered to help me get ready prior to the service; however we had to get ready together since she wasn't there. The Pastor didn't arrive until around 2pm; they tried to call his house and cell phone but he didn't answer either place nor did he call to let anyone know he was running late. The photographer arrived on time however he left in the middle of our time to go buy batteries; he didn't have any spares with him. He said our pictures would be there when we checked out Saturday. I had to make several phone calls after we left inquiring about our pictures. I was told the pictures would be mailed at the beginning of the week and they were not mailed until Friday. And then we noticed a whole roll of pictures was missing. We paid for an extra 30 minutes of the photographers time and found out November 6 that the pictures taken during that time were all overexposed and nothing can be done to fix them. The wedding coordinator never told us the cake was wrong or had issues with it I addressed this with her when we cut the cake. The wedding flowers were the only thing done correctly. Our wedding was handled in a very unprofessional manner. I am very thankful that I didn't have any family or friends there because I would have been embarrassed to say I paid for that kind of service. The lack of care and concern these people showed my fiancée and I on a very important day of our lives will unfortunately be a part of our wedding memories forever. Evidently customer service is not a strong concern of this establishment. The cabin was not very clean. There was spiders/bugs (alive & dead) throughout the cabin. The recessed light was hanging out of the ceiling above the bathroom sink - my husband fixed that. House keeping did not notice these issues in the four days we stayed there. And all the doors stuck; you had to use a lot of force to get them to close. After 2 months of several emails requesting an additional refund I was told they will only be refunding us an additional $75 and that we should be thankful to get that. I was also informed that they located the missing roll of film - they were not overexposed apparently it was lost.

Very Dissapointed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/08
My husband and I have been going to the Inn for 8 years now and we used to love it, but the last two experiences have been awful. They must have new owners because the staff has completely changed from very knowledgable and customer friendly professionals to a completely incompetent staff. They booked us in the wrong room, I even showed them the email I received from them but they didn't care. We didn't get the room we booked. The food and service at the restaurant are getting worse every time we go. The food used to be worth the high price tag, but no more. The service was terrible. Dirty tables, having to go and get drinks etc.. ourselves because our server forgot us, and when I asked to take the rest of my steak home at the end of the meal the server said yes and then apparently threw it away. This was expensive steak and the server just completely dismissed my request. Then the fact that the rooms weren't even clean made the situation even worse. I'm so disappointed because we used to love this place and now we won't go again. They also used to have horses, llamas, a dog, and many cats roaming around to give the place a real farm feel to it, but the animals are gone too. What happened??

Me and my wife, celebrated 4th of July at Jordon Hollow We were treated like family during our stay there. The food in the restaurent was fantastic .We are vegetarian and the chef made specially delicious food for us. What more could we expect. We will strongly recommend this inn to all our friends.

Seems To Be Sliding Backward
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/08
We've stayed here many times over the years, and long for the "old days". A new owner's attempts at upgrading seem to lack attention to details. And staff turnover (in the restaurant in particular) leave returning guests wondering what "surprises" are in store. The $300.00/night cabin we last stayed in had a double bed that was almost impossible to climb into - very high off of the floor, I wound up sleeping in a chair. There were 5 different remotes for the confusing array of TV/DVD/CD players with NO instructions as to which was which - never got the TV to work. Guess we try the newly renovated Mimslyn in nearby Luray, next time.

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/08
Like the last review, we were tempted by the website's pictures, and we too, were going to celebrate our 1st anniversary. The pictures on the website were not at all representative of the rooms; and the "queen-sizr" beds were nothing more than full size. My husband is 6'4" and doesn't even fit in a fullsize bed. When I went to the front desk to try to rectify the situation the Customer Service was no less than horrific! They offered to move us to a suite with a king size bed as long as we were willing to pay the difference. When I asked them to just let us leave and not cause anymore problems they reminded me of their 100% cancellation policy and that we would be charged the price for 2 nights. In the end, we ended up moving to the king suite so that my husband could at least fit in the bed and tried to make the best of the weekend. The restaurant was merely ok. There was new management and they were feuding with the wait staff. All in all it was a total nightmare! We too, spent most of our time talking about how much we were spending for such a disappointing experience. NEVER AGAIN!

Wonderful Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
My wife and I have gone to Jordan Hollow for years. We've seen it go through a few ownership changes and have different takes on the advantages and disadvantages of the those changes. All in all we have always been satisfied with our stay and the way we are treated. The point of the place is Rustic. If you want gold faucets and a minibar this is not the place. It is off the beaten path and quiet. We love it and look forward to our annual stay in October.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/05
Tempted by the website's pictures and pastoral-looking setting, we set off to celebrate an anniversary. Like many, we were after high charm, good taste in decor, long meals, and peaceful overnighting. Jordan Hollow missed on all counts: the charming pictures belie the slip-shod construction and layout of the rooms, the limited grounds are surrounded by less-than-charming neighbors...all in all, I spent most of my time surprised by how much I was spending for such a disappointing experience. It wasn't ALL bad - we were impressed by the food quality. But even in the dining room, we couldn't help but notice the lack of care and lack of attention to detail in the table settings and in the overall dining experience. The experience was OK but borderline terrible.
