Howard Johnson Inn Lexington, Lexington

It is a very old hotel. It is located right off of 81 and up a steep hill. There was a pool which was clean and nice. The resturant was closed and has been for over a year so we had to travel into town for dinner. There are chains like Applebee's, Waffle House, Ruby Tuesdays,etc. with a few diners here and there but it had to be about 15 min down the road. There was a pancake house called Aunt Sarah's across the street but DO NOT recommend it. It was nice and the food was good but the service was bad. They took 15 min to even wait on drinks on us and over 45 min to an hour to get served breakfast (it was not packed!!) they said it was probably the waitress but I couldn't say as we had about 3 different people wait on us! The rooms in the hotel were a nice size but the bathrooms were small. The only major thing I didn't like about the hotel was that the room smelled. I couldn't tell where it was coming from but is was strong. We complained twice and they just kept sending us back with an airfreshner. They told us it was the carpet cleaning solution. Could have been but is was so strong it made my head hurt. I personally felt it was from an animal in the room and had an accident and they had to clean it. It just smelled too strong. I won't be stay again.
