Poor Customer Care

My wife and I booked a suite with a Jacuzzi for our anniversary. We arrived at the hotel a little early and asked about checking in. We were told the room was not ready yet, but should be very soon. We decided to go to the lounge and wait. After 45 minutes we went back to the front desk and asked again. We were told it would be another 30 minutes. Back to the lounge we went. After another 30 minutes we tried the front desk again and were told our room still wasnt ready. We decided to go to dinner and then come back to the hotel. At 6:30 pm we returned to the hotel and were told the person that had taken our reservation had made a mistake and they could not give us the room we had reserved. We would have to take a regular room. We explained to them this was our special anniversary outing and a downgrade to a regular room was not what we wanted, and if this was the case, how come they did not tell us this when we first tried to check in, it may have been early enough for us to find a suitable room at another hotel. I believe this was the purpose for stringing us along. We told the manager this was not what we wanted and we were very disappointed in this hotel and the way we had been worked. We would try to find a room elsewhere. The manager told us they were sorry and would send us a complimentary package for our trouble. That never happened. It was also too late to find a room at a different hotel, so we drove the 3 hours to go back home.
