Notch Brook Condominium Review
I'll be returnig to Notch Brook for my fith or sixth time, so they must be great, right? Not so fast. The condos themselves are aging precast concrete structures, stacked like boxes with small wooden decks attached. Not very high in New England charm, or the kind of property travel guides would rave about. The interiors are servicable, even comfortable, but all the units I've been in look in need of a good make-over and some TLC.
So why do I go back? A single sunset on the deck looking toward Mt Mansfield makes the stay worth the while. If you like a wooded setting the location is the best Stowe has to offer . The condos are among the closest to the mountain, on a ridge above the West Branch river with lawns and woods. Maintained but not manicured. The service matches the personality which is to say servicable, laidback perhaps, but not for those who want great service to be part of the experience.
For me it's the views, the woods, the sunsets that keeps me coming back.
Sorry to say this year the property management has been contracted out so reservations are no longer handled by Notch Brook. The change has resulted in siginificant cost increases. It bothered me so much I actually considered not going back this summer. But then I realized I'd really miss the sun going down over Mt Mansfield.
