Relaxing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/07
The place was great - nice and quiet - the staff remembers your name and your likes and dislikes from your previous stay- I did have a small mechanical problem - I called the hotel operator and within 5 minutes a nice gentleman came and fixed the problem - I had another problem the day before we left - the gentleman worked for over 1 hour to fix it - He appoligized that he could not fix it - called reservations to find us another cottage - it was my decision not to move and disrupt everything - he offed to have the bell men come and help me move - I told them I could live with the slight inconvience, the next morning the first maintenance man came and took a quick look and fixed the problem in 5 minutes - it is that attention to details that I like - I wanted a particular Vermont Made product that they did not carry in the shops at the Harbor Jen in the Gift Shop left me a message when in Vergennes I could purchase the product and the Evening Operator told me the hours that the Fat Hen was open and just how to get there - again attention to details I can't wait until Spring - 8 months is a long time to wait until we can visit again - I wish they were opened year round

By Bernie B, 07/18/07
EVERTHING IS ALWAYS GREAT HERE!THE FOOD IS TO DIE FOR!!! EVERYONE SHOULD GET TO EXPERIENCE THIS PLACE ONCE IN THEIR LIFE TIME.OUR KIDS HAVE GREAT MEMORIES FROM PAST VACATIONS HERE.IT IS THE BEST FAMILY "TIME" TOGETHER. THE KIDS HAVE FUN AND GET TO ENJOY THE MANY ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE WITH THE OTHER KIDS THERE,WHILE MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE A CHANCE TO ENJOY ALITTLE QUALITY TIME ALONE TOGETHER. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO BASIN HARBOR FOR TWENTY ONE YEARS AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEPTEMBER 1, 2007 TO JOIN THEM AGAIN!

Just Returned from BHC and hope to be back again and again
By MarkR, 06/27/07
I can't even think of where to begin with the Basin Harbor Club. First, the staff is great! I met everyone- from the waitstaff to the pool attendants to the actual owner- and they are all fantastic, personable and go out of their way to make sure you have the best time possible at BHC. I stayed in the Tanglewood cabin which was beautiful. The craftsmanship of the cabin (and all the buildings) is 100% handmade and wonderful. Many of the cabins have lake views and porches for you to enjoy the view. The food was great! I ate at the Ranger Room for breakfast every morning and had dinner at the Red Mill (twice), the main dining room and also the patio right on the water. Everything tasted fantastic. The golf course was beautiful, not too challenging, but very enjoyable. The back 9 is definitely more challenging and will take a bit longer, but the course is overall great! I spent 4 nights here for a family reunion and was very sad to leave. The place is perfect in every way you expect the resort to be. I will always speak very highly of this place and cannot reccommend it enough!

The absolute best!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
Our family has been going to BHC every summer for the past twelve years. The staff is excellent as are the kids camps/activities. The food is outstanding, the cottages private/comfortable and the views amazing. Make sure the kids bring bikes...it's the best mode of transport. Another great thing is that there are no televisions in the rooms (there is one in the main lodge to catch baseball games). There is nothing negative to say about BHC.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/07
They remember your name, and your likes and dislikes and greet you like one of the family - had a great time - they were short on staff but you did not notice anything wrong with your service they worked overtime to make my stay great - can't wait until I can go back again - and wish we could have stayed longer

Vermont at its best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/06
We went up to BHC with our family for a week. The entire time we were up there we hardly saw our kids! We felt very safe letting our kids (8and 7) roam the grounds. The staff really went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Every staff member we met or saw always had a smile. Although we were told that BHC was pricey, BHC was worth ever penny! Thank you again for a great week!

Wish we could have stayed longer
By Patrick, 06/05/06
The minute you checked in - the staff was so great, no matter what you needed they were there to help you. The weather was cool and damp but the cottage was nice and warm and they supplied extra towels so I could dry the dog. There was plenty to do and the food was great. If you asked for it a special way, it was done the way you ordered it. They go out of there way to treat you like family always smiling and alway a cherry hello when you see them 4 days was not long enough - can't wait to go back

Basin Harbor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/06
The Place is amazing. It is a beautiful setting, it doesn't need to have good accomidations to be a good place. There are so many things you can do, I can't wait to go back.

One of the best vacations ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/05
The grounds are beautiful, the lake is breaktaking and the accomadations are excellent. The food is varied and out of this world and the entire resort cries out "relax". A full and wonderful program for children and a lovely and challenging 18 hole golf course. Great for couples or families - many come back year after year - it is a modern resort fashioned after a gone-by era of restful relaxation combine with excellent service and gourmet food. Can't recommend it enough.

This place is perfect
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/05
This place is beautiful. We love the food, the staff and the activities. We lost track of how many years we've been coming here - it's more than eight. There's something to do for everyone and our daughter has grown from a 7-year old who loved riding her bike all over to an independent teenager with friends that she sees every year. You never run out of things to do from golf, to bike riding to yoga, pilates, swimming, nature walks, tennis, jewelry making, boat rides and of course eating. We love it here.l
