3 reviews for Prospector Square Lodge And Conference Center, Park City
Reviews set my expectations
By Julie L, 03/17/06
I headed to Park City with low expectations on this place because I had read the reviews, but I got a good package deal and thought, "How long am I REALLY going to be in the hotel room?". When we got there, our room was not ready and did not get ready until about 45 minutes after check-in time. Front desk staff was very friendly and apologetic and said they were short on housekeepers. Room was VERY basic, which I expected. The phone didn't work in the room (and I read about that on the internet, so I knew that may be the case), so I used my cell to call the front desk and ask for clean towels on day #2 (and also report the phone issue, knowing it probably would not get fixed, but mentioned it anyway). Had to leave a message because it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a live person. They did deliver towels that afternoon, however. Beds were hard as a rock, but I've stayed in expensive hotels with matresses like that. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, specifically the bathtub/shower. Oh, and this hotel is also affiliated with the Carriage House. In fact, this company owns SEVERAL buildings in the area, therefore, be prepared to potentially walk a distance from where you check in (The Carriage House)to wherever they put you. I'm not sure if that is an "internet" booking surprise or what...Fortunately, the guy at the front desk was nice enough to throw our stuff in the maintenance guy's truck and take us to our building, but that was obviously a "favor" (greatly appreciated). Lastly, I have stayed in very basic accomodations before and have had a better experience than this. It wasn't horrible, but I know there is better out there and I will look a little harder for it next time.

A Real Gem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/03/06
My family and I just spent a wonderful Christmas in Park City and we loved our studio at Prospector Square Lodge. The room was beautiful--original artwork, a big log bed that was mighty comfortable, antique wooden furniture, pretty new curtains, a big leather sofa, neat lamps--I liked the bear lamp myself. The kitchen was very convenient for our breakfasts and afternoon snacks. The bathroom was rustic and elegant--slate floors, textured walls, more artwork. Our room even had a brand new TV and DVD player. A park-like setting gave my kids plenty of room to play. And everything in town was so convenient since the bus stop was right at the end of the parking lot. The Front Desk staff in the Lobby were very nice and ready to help. What a real find this place was. Great!

Hotel is about 1 mile from the base of Park City Mountain Resort. It is nice enough and pretty clean. If you're planning to ski most of the time you are there, it's a decent value. It is also only a mile or two from Main Street if you are planning to go out in the evenings.
