A Must Stay!
By JEFFREY J, 12/24/09
Goulding's Lodge is a gem not to be missed. How can you not love this place? Clean and modern, full service hotel with all rooms having a valley view. Do yourself a favor, get up for sunrise, then enjoy this beautiful facility. We will stay there again.

We very much enjoyed the Tour to the Back Country ,Meeting Ring Jackson and his Horse Pistol was a Highlight . We also visited the gift shop ,a Must for us and they shipped home a Navajo Pitcher for us all trouble free. We finally enjoyed a Meal that was very good at the restaurant and Visited the Museum ,would love to go Back!

saving like mad to return!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/09
we stayed in one of the chalets a few mins drive away from the main lodge and it was the best stay of our 3 week stay in the States - the chalet was so comfortable and the early morning views over monument valley were out of this world. Our whole family including 2 teenagers were overcome with this area and all want to come again - thank you

Outstanding Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/08
This is an outstanding place--magnificant scenery. Take the tour - it is worth every penny. Also, the Gouldings Restaurant has wonderful Navajo tacos, but their chocolate suicide cake is the best!

Back In Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/08
I am 65 years old,and I did a job back in 1972 in Monument Valley, while in the service and it stayed on my mind ever since. My wife and I returned to Monument Valley on Vacation in April 2007. And to my surprise was still the same as when I left it in 1972 .The Navajo love there land of the Gods and I understand why.It is the most beautiful Scenery of Buttes and red rock you will ever see.It is Quiet, and if you like a place that time has stood still. This is the place for you.Words can't explain this land.So go to Monument Valley and see for yourself. It will stay in your mind the rest of your life.Stay at Gouldings Lodge or Campgrounds for the best scenery and views of the Buttes and dessert. You can't miss it.It's the only one there.Enjoy yourself

It's unforgetable!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/08/07
All the reviews are true.It is a great place to stay in Monument Valley! The view is spectacular!Imagine to stay on the balcony and to see the sunrise! Gouldings Lodge is perfect, the rooms are not so big , but clean .In fact you are gone all the day, you don't stay in the room. You eat good and cheap at the restaurant. There is also a food store in the area. Take the all day tour !It's great. It's something you will always remember ! Thank you HARRY and "MIKE" GOULDING for what you have done and for making "MONUMENT VALLEY SPECIAL TO ALL"

Location & view
By Benjamin R, 01/03/07
Location: it's unbeatable. It might be the only hotel located in Monument Valley. Most or all of the rooms have a view of the rock formations right out the window, right there! Room: for an American hotel I found the room rather small, and something was wrong with the electrical outlet: my cellphone charger caused the breaker to trip. (I use the cellphone as alarm clock, and even saw a signal though weak) Service: The front desk was friendly. Restaurant was friendly and food was plentiful and good but not great. Tour: The full-day tour was great. I was disappointed by the lack of information about the geology of the rocks, but really did enjoy the guide's in-depth knowledge of Navajo life styles. She was a native speaker of the Navajo language. In our case the outside temperature was near freezing all day, but the bus was well heated, and we had many (about 20 or more) opportunities to stop and take many short walks outside. Each disembarkation brought a sudden temperature change that would certainly make me sick, but my thick down jacket was easy to zip on and off. I felt sorry for those who layered with pullover sweaters. Interesting side note: the Navajo used Juniper for many things. Later that evening I read in a Nature Magazine review of a book by John Riddle, that one species of Juniper could "save young women from shame, and modern science has finally confirmed its contraceptive effects." No, the tour guide didn't mention this, and I don't know whether the species was the same...

Goldings is the place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/06
The stay at Gouldings was one of the best. It has spectacular view of the valley, good restaurant and a very good trading post if you are interested in buying indian jewellery/soveniers. Its located 4 miles from the entrance to the valley and is ideally located. Would highly recommend it.
