Not the Sun Dial Inn
By Pacificstar, 11/17/06
We had stayed at this hotel when it was the Sun Dial Inn. I was so excited to return. The people who work at this hotel are the most rude folks ever. I guess you knid of expect this in Carmel but the people in the resturants and shops were marvelous. No service given here. The people who work her feel very entitled and they put on airs. Well, listen I'm paying for a room, your just working there. They all need a course in Customer Care. The infomation in the room said they served tea and goodies in the afternoon. The tea I had to go and ask for was charged to my room! The ceiling in our room was crumbling down (looked like the toliet upstairs had a problem) they said "well we can't do anything while your there we'll fix it after you leave". Besides that I loved our room and the soaking tub. We loved the fact we have been there before and the Inn is very charming.

Will never stay there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/06
My wife and I visit Carmel one and sometimes two times yearly. We go without reservations. In May on our first day's walk, we came upon the hotel. It looked to be more expensive than what we could afford, but I decided to check anyway. I asked for the prices and was informed that they ranged from $250 to $450 per night. I offered to pay $150 for one night. Following a negative response, I asked if they would accept that daily rate for two nights. I received an affirmative reply. The person at the desk showed us one room which we accepted. Upon departure the bill indicated a daily rate of $200. We objected and told the person what had been agreed. She (Diane) demanded that I sign the credit card recipt and invoice, which I did "under protest", which was clearly noted on both forms. After submitting a complaint to my credit card company, with full details, the hotel refused to adjust the bill to what we had verbally agreed. My credit card company reimbursed me for the overcharge. I suggest that you be sure to get everything in writing from this establishment.

My wife and I absolutely love this property. We tried it a few weekends ago and loved every aspect of it! From the greeting, the beautiful room, the breakfast-just everything! This is a true getaway and one you'll look forward returning to!
