Fantastic Honeymoon-Can't Wait to Return!
My husband and I stayed at the Centennial house for three nights for our honeymoon. We could not have been more pleased with the establishment!
Having never stayed at a B&B, we weren't sure what to expect. I travel quite often for work and am used to the amenities of Hilton/Marriott, etc. I was more than pleased at the accommodations at the Centennial House. Having driven all day to get to St. Augustine, we arrived later in the evening, and were greeted at the door by the friendly innkeeper. She showed us around the inn--including the notebook full of useful St. Augustine information and articles about local attractions, food recommendations for various restaurants, and handy directions & maps--and then showed us to our room.
We stayed in the Safari Room (decorated in a safari theme) which had a huge whirpool tub for two and a comfy king bed, fireplace, nice t.v., and more than enough room. We spent our days walking throughout St. Augustine, our afternoons napping in the room, and our evenings having dinner and coffee at different establishments.
Breakfasts at the Centennial house were phenomenal, and each morning we dined at a table for two in the sun room, which served as a perfect dining room, with just enough privacy. I never felt like we were at a big kitchen table with a bunch of strangers. The breakfast was served restaurant style, and the menu was varied from day to day.
The only possible negative was that we could hear all the "action" in the room next to ours, but since we were on our honeymoon, it didn't bother us. And I think that is to be expected in any lodging establishment.
Perhaps the best part of our stay is that we were married in early January which is apparently a slow time for travel in St. Augustine. They were running a special and we received 3 nights for the price of 2--but we would have gladly paid full price for this quality of lodging!
I cannot experess how much we enjoyed our stay at the Centennial House. Their personal touch--bubble bath waiting by the tub each night, personal recommendations based on what we were looking for, and a convenient parking spot at all times--made for a VERY enjoyable stay!
