Bloomingdale Inn, Washington

We enjoyed our visit. The location was convenient to Howard U and Catholic U. Registration and arrival were as simple as possible. A key code allowed us entry and keys to the room were in the locks. The rooms were impeccably furnished with TV and internet available. Because of the hot weather, I was moved from a third floor room to a first floor room until the weather cooled down. Nate cooked a breakfast to order on the weekends. We left for our meetings before the “official” breakfast hours, but John had the coffee on a timer and opened the kitchen to us. All in all, I had the feeling of being at home for the week that I stayed. I enthusiastically recommend the Bloomingdale Inn to anyone visiting the DC area.

Broken window, bad smell, unsafe location, poor customer service

Rooms are clean and lovely, the check in process is smooth, the breakfast carried us through much of the day saving us money... It was easy to catch the bus or metro with a short walk to the bus and about a mile to the metro. Overall a fantastic five day stay.

I would go back in a heartbeat. I came on business and just stayed a night. It was really hot outside, so the manager (John) gave a free upgrade to a room on the first floor, which was nice and cool. The rooms all come with an iron, an ironing board, and cable tv. Breakfast was delicious, and they leave fruit and tea out at all hours, which is great. The linens were lovely and the bed really comfortable. There is lots of street parking, and I was able to use a spot in the back since I would be there over the 2-hour limit during the day.

It`s was a great Place.Location of the hotel is quiet. There are many kind of food for breakfast. I´m come back.

I totally enjoyed my stay at the Bloomingdale Inn, I would go back in a heartbeat. I appreciated the cleanliness, comfortable room with internet, breakfast and conversation, and most of all the outstanding service! I called my son to let him know about this gem ($7.00 cab ride or $1.35 bus ride from Union Station).

Terrific place! Real life looks even better than the pictures on the web. SO nicely furnished, clean, friendly, and a delicious and really unique little breakfast one looks forward to in the mornings. Bathrooms are conveniently located to all rooms, so it is almost like having an own one. Bus 80 departs to and from Union Station frequently and stops just about in front of the door. We always took the bus, often the last one at night back. I never felt insecure not even for a minute. I hope to return soon!

I had made reservation on July 4 08 , evening. ICouple of days before, received a mail from the manager asking me if I would check in before or after 9:00 pm. I replied that I would check in by 6:00 pm. However I could reach only around 7:00 pm. I did not inform them about my delay as I was sure that the place would be open till 9:00 pm. When I reached, I found that the place was closed, no one answered the door bell. No one replied the mobile no or the other phone which was mentioned in the correspondence. I also left the voice messages on these nos. Ultimately I left the place after a half an hour, in frustration. I received the call only next morning and the manager was very rude. He refused to accept as their mistake and offered to refund only 50% of the amount, which was never refunded.

Beautiful interior in a nice architecture neighborhood, clean (daily room service, fresh towels), friendly and helpful staff. Bus line 80 stops not far away which brings you to the Union Station where most sightseeing tours are starting. Far away from International Airport Dulles. Cheapest way to go from there is taking Washington flyer Bus to Metro station West Falls Church and than taking the Metro to the City centre. Than go further by Bus or cab. But I would recommend this accomodation everytime.

As a frequent B&B guest I was very happy with my stay at the Bloomfield. Located in a renovated row house, the architecture was georgous and being able to go inside was a peek at the capitol's history in itself. The neighborhood is older and on the rebound, but I felt very safe walking to and from the inn in the day. I would recommend a cab at night as it is purely residential and there aren't others always walking about like there are in places like Dupont Circle. The location was out of the way as my trip was for sightseeing. During the day I walked into the city (I'm a big walker and the weather was pleasant) and took a cab back at night. Granted, that was an added expense, but for paying only $100 a night in DC I could afford it!!! (And lots of shopping and good meals at nice restaurants!) The Inn itself was very clean. I didn't see a speck of cat hair ANYWHERE. (And I own cats, so I know how hard that is to accomplish.) They also deserve compliments for thier linens - lovely! Making my reservations was very easy, I was emailed a prompt response to my questions, and everyone was pleasant. With that being said, 4 of the 5 staff that I dealt with were appropriately chatty and hospitable. The last was polite but never smiled and gave off a strong "don't bother me" air. Last, the key system. How smart of them! You can't get locked out because there is a keyed entry way into the house. This also means that there are no keys for guests to lose outside where someone could pick them up! And if you arrive late, they say they will simply give you the code to the door so you can let yourself in.
